The only theme tune that can reduce me to tears. Tears because I remember fondly the times I sat as a child, teenager and adult with my late father watching this. One of his favourite westerns. Then when I think how all the original seven have passed on too, I cry a little harder!

My dad showed me this movie when I was about 8 years old, and I was never the same. Magnificent 7 fueled my lifelong love for both Westerns and also team-up movies. I saw this movie as a kid with my older bother. The sound track blew me away then, and it still does every time I hear it. I've lost track of how many times I've seen this movie, but it never gets old. What amazes me is that you could put Yul Brynner in a leading role in a western, and cast a young German actor, Horst Buchholz as a native hispanic farmer, and still make it work. Yet it does.

Steve McQueen and Yul Brynner did not get along - at all. McQueen wanted top billing, which irritated Brynner no end. Also, some of the cast members used to play poker at the end of each day of shooting. Brad Dexter was said to have been a lousy card player, yet he always came back for more abuse. And Eli Wallach's "bandito" extras liked being in his outlaw gang - a real source of pride for them. In the end, what a movie, with one of the greatest musical scores ever composed.

Hey all. 20 year old here, born post 9/11. I've heard my grandfather play this tune on his sound system many times. Very powerful arrangement that will live forever. It's superb. Another Bernstein theme that comes close is his score for The Comancheros. Try watching the first three or four minutes. It lifts you out of your seat just as The Magnificent Seven does.

By Far, One of the Greatest Westerns ever made. You have an all star cast in this movie and can see how young these guys were when the film was made. The Magnificent Seven is based loosely on the Japanese movie, Seven Samurai, which was made in 1954. Since I was a little boy, I've always enjoyed this movie and the timeless theme of Courage in the face of Incredible Odds. Unfortunately, they don't make movies like this anymore.

Who doesn't like this movie? One of my all time favorites, fantastic music and an all star cast if actors. Was released in a year that had many great movies culminated by Ben Hur winning the Oscar for Best Picture. Still a 10 plus in my book.

Bernstein creates a mini-symphony, without silly-old-stops, that simply defines the Tex-mex meets New York-Jerome Kern meets black gospel melting pot of 'Merican music. Such a great tune, this was my late fathers favourite film, I remember watching it sitting on his knee when I was about 5. I cry every time I hear the tune. RIP dad and all the fine actors in the film. And also Elmer for giving us this masterpiece.

So in July of 2019, my friend and I visited Qinghai, China for the Yushu Tibetan Horse Festival. At the end of the festival, in the city square, they were giving out awards for the winning participants for the various events. As we were walking up to the square, I was stopped in my tracks, because for each winner, this song was played as an introduction. Unbelievable.
