Together, they collectively released the EP Stay Up, Get Down. Shortly thereafter Ryan and Alex departed the band for unknown reasons, but were replaced with Kennedy Brock and Jared Monaco. Another night with the same drinks
I need to find myself a new chick
I need to kiss a set of new lips
She's gotta be something new to me
Fresh drinks, someone new to please
Oh come on girl, just you and me
This kinda girl makes it rough (making it rough)
Holding our breath while we touch
She won't kiss and tell
But this isn't how
She got that name
It all seems like a game
As she moves so well
I won't call this hell
If I had to guess
I'd say we have a mess, you could tell
And how am I supposed to think
With her hands all over me
Telling me the right things
Ever so distracting
She's gotta be something new to me
New signs but no sight of strings
So come on, come on, girl just you and me
Oh come on girl, just you and me
This kinda girl makes it rough (making it rough)
Holding our breath while we touch
She won't kiss and tell
But this isn't how
She got that name
It all seems like a game
As she moves so well
I won't call this hell
If I had to guess
I'd say we have a mess, you could tell
She's making it harder
Harder to breathe
I'm getting eager
So pull in the strings...
The lights are all off
There's no one around
We've both lost our minds
They're no where to be found
It's getting hot
I'm not saying this is hell
But I swear
This girl's a mess, you could tell
She won't kiss and tell
But this isn't how
She got that name
It all seems like a game
Oh she moves so well
I won't call this hell
If I had to guess
I'd say we've got a mess, you could tell
The Maine's song "Kiss and Sell" is a classic party song about finding a new fling. Singer John O'Callaghan sings about being at yet another party with the same people and wanting something new. He's on the search for a girl who is different from what he's used to, with fresh drinks and someone new to please. The repetition of the lyrics "she's gotta be something new to me" emphasizes the singer's desire for something more exciting than what he's used to.
The song is more than just a party anthem, however. The singer describes his attraction to a girl who won't kiss and tell, but who is also a bit of a mess. He's aware that their encounter may not be healthy or long-lasting, but he's drawn in by the mystery and excitement of it all. The line "I won't call this hell, if I had to guess I'd say we have a mess, you could tell" shows that the singer is aware of the potential for things to go wrong, but is still willing to take the risk.
Overall, "Kiss and Sell" is a song about the thrill of the chase and the appeal of something new and mysterious. However, it also acknowledges the potential for things to go wrong and the consequences of reckless behavior.
