I Call Your Name
The Mamas & the Papas Lyrics

I call your name, but you're not there
Was I to blame, for being unfair
Don't you know I can't sleep at night
Since you've been gone
I never weep at night
I can't go on

Don't you know I can't take it
I don't know who can
I'm not gonna make it
I'm not that kind of man

Don't you know I can't sleep at night
But just the same
I never weep at night
I call your name

Don't you know I can't take it
I don't know who can
I'm not gonna make it
I'm not that kind of man

Don't you know I can't sleep at night
But just the same, yeah
I never weep at night
I call your name
I never weep at night
I call your name, yeah

Man, how Cass Eliot could sing. And Michelle Phillips was so, so beautiful. Throw in amazing harmony. There will never be another band like this.

Dogbite Williams

Yes, absolutely fantastic harmonies.

John Shreve

I'm sure they listened to Lambert, Hendricks, and Ross.

The Mamas & the Papas recorded some of the best music ever. Mama Cass had an amazing voice and the group was made for the 1960's. Great music ended after the 1980's. I wish I could go back in time. George Vreeland Hill

Mama Cass whispering "John" around 1:26 :)

@Appleholic1 It is a |Lennon/McCartney song. I don't know if Paul contributed because they used to consider Lennon and McCartney even when only one had composed. Like Yesterday, for instance. However, most of them had at least a small contribution of both. Sometimes also contribution of George. And Ringo. And Yes, Mama Cass is whispering for John Lennon. She had a crush on him. And Michelle confirmed. Acording to Michelle she added - but we can't listen - I love you. So once John met all the other members and went to the hotel where they were in London. Cass was sleeping. John got inside the room and whispered in her ears: Mama Cass, I love you. How good is that? She almost fainted when she woke up;

@sejrec56 I've read from contemporary sources that it was her way of flirting w John Lennon
