No
The Manual And The Machine Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You are still asleep
Yeah
Now open your eyes
Uh

Whipped a half a brick, smell the white fumes (whip up)
Shit on my neck bright enough to light rooms (my shit lit up, right)
Leave a nigga body full of knife wounds (hah)
We tycoons, I'm a fly goon
Only smokin' the best like DZA
Catch a bitch goin' through my pockets
I just might kill her (fuck is you doin', yo?)
My young bitch twenty-three, she dress like SZA
If I need a brick, I know the chef like RZA (talk to 'em)
Stackin' all this cream, they tryna inspect the method (hah)
Youngin scorin' on the opps
He 'bout to set the record (boom boom boom boom)
Nigga, I'm about to apply extra pressure (cap)
Rappers say they on my level, but have yet to measure (picture that, nigga)
Versace to my socks, boy, I'm extra fresher (You see me, bitch)
Throw my gloves on, screw on the TEC suppressor (what's poppin', nigga)
They say I'm too passionate as a writer (hah)
But I don't give a fuck, that's what happen when you fire (hah)
You can't tell me all these rappers not inspired
Before Reject 2, niggas was rappin' like Desiigner
I'm that nigga if you have to just inquire
But you can visit my hood and go and ask if I'm a liar (go ask the real niggas)
Nigga, I pull the ratchet out and fire (boom boom boom boom)
Alejandro Sosa the only cat that I aspire to be (brr)

Yeah, you know what's up, niggas
Uh, fifty rounds for you fuck niggas
I'm back in rare form, nigga
Yeah
Machine, bitch
Alchemist
Oh my fuckin' God, nigga
Smash and scrape the whole summer, nigga
I promise you
I don't think nobody fuckin' with me
I'ma take that back
I know nobody ain't fuckin' with me, nigga
Point 'em out
Machine

(You are still asleep)
(Now open your eyes)

See all these niggas out here?
Mmm
Strugglin' to survive, man

When you strugglin' to survive, you need somebody to follow
So I figured, why not give 'em God?

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to The Manual And The Machine's song "No" appear to paint a picture of desperation and regret. The singer describes "too much ice on the outside" and a "lapse of faith" which creates a sense of isolation and disconnection. The idea of being "contained" suggests that the singer feels trapped and unable to escape their own negative thoughts and emotions. The repeated line "no act of grace" emphasizes the idea that there is no saving grace or redemption for the situation they find themselves in.

The lyrics also touch on themes of accountability and responsibility. The phrase "the act of you killing" could refer to either a physical or metaphorical act of harm, but either way they cannot "take it back" and are burdened by the memory of it. The line "the people would rather/you never wake up" suggests that the singer is aware of the damage they have caused and wishes they could escape from the consequences.

Ultimately, the song seems to be about the consequences of our actions and the weight of our past mistakes. The repeated phrase "there's no act of grace" serves as a reminder that sometimes, we must face the consequences of our choices with no hope of redemption.

I don't know if you have covered this in depth, but a series on tool grinding would be helpful. A major portion of my Machine Tools Lab was focused on making tools from HSS for various jobs, including threading.

Love this type of content. I'm always interested in using machines more creatively to do the un-doable.

Now thats old school Joe. I love it! I've done more than my share of broaching in my career. It's sadly just another of aspect of manual machining thats been lost on the young machinists trained solely on cnc's. That's why your channel is such a treasure.

Well I was about 14 or 15 when my neighbor taught me a lot about turt lathe and machining in his shop, about 60 years back. I have had a lot of things I built over the years, But I am finding out now there is much more to machining then I knew ! Thanks for being such a good teacher.

Great video! Nice trick with 45° indication, I was wondering how you'd approach it. Still, would be interesting to see how one could approach indicateing an arbitrary angle. I have some rough ideas, but they seem too complicated, there must be some good approach.

Amazing timing on this video Joe! Just yesterday I made a similar cutting tool to shape the rectangular hole on a homemade tap wrench
that I'm making. It went great but after watching your video it's going to go even better next time!

HolzMichel

thanks Joe, a demo on how to do the bottoming broach would be a great topic. i've had stuff like this before and just resorted to the trusty dusty old file to get the job done but the results always left a little something wanting...this is method is the bomb!

James

Good stuff as always Joe! Thanks.
Might be good to mention the pressure limitations on the spindle bearings. No heavy pressing on a static spindle to prevent Brinelling the bearings.

Springwood Cottage

Amazed at how clean and sharp it is. Such a useful thing to know. Thank you for sharing!

Pretty Hate Machining

Incredible work Joe. I wish I had seen this a few months ago, I had a similar project and I ended up doing it all by hand. It sucked.
