Mr. President
The Marshall Tucker Band Lyrics

We've taken all you've given
But it's gettin' hard to make a livin'
Mr. President have pity on the working man

We're not asking you to love us
You may place yourself high above us
Mr. President have pity on the working man

I know it may sound funny
But people ev'ry where are runnin' out of money
We just can't make it by ourself

It is cold and the wind is blowing
We need something to keep us gong
Mr. President have pity on the working man

Maybe you've cheated, maybe you've lied
Maybe you have lost your mind
Maybe you're only thinking 'bout yourself

Too late to run, too late to cry now
The time has come for us to say goodbye now
Mr. President have pity on the working man

Mr. President have pity on the working man

I love Can't you see, and saw this while watching the original, so I decided to check it out. I shan't make that mistake again.

I always liked MTB, but this Steve Goodman song sounds far Too Lynyrd Skynyrd-ish....

Simon Boccanegra

Randy Newman wrote it, and his original version appears on Good Old Boys. Not familiar with Steve Goodman, but I'm sure there are a few covers.

"Tuckerized" wasn't a bad album. Gotta find that one and "Running Like The Wind". Too bad WMG doesn't have any desire of packaging MTB's 5 Warner albums like (WMG) did with the Cars, Warren Zevon, Foreigner, Foghat, Linda Ronstadt, and even Alanis Morissette. I'd buy that collection of discs in a heartbeat especially if the price is a helluva deal. Who wouldn't?!
