Most Recent: The Metros (London, UK)
Were a teenaged south London five-piece consisting of Saul Adamczewski (vocals), Jak Payne (guitar), Joe Simpson (guitar), Freddi Hyde-Thompson (drums) and Charlie Elliott (bass). When lead singer Saul Adamczewski discovered his dad's old vinyl collection, the sound of south London five-piece The Metros took a different twist. Initially inspired by ska, The Strokes and The Libertines, Saul and friend Jak began listening to the sounds of Squeeze, The Specials and Ian Drury and The Blockheads. The result is a fusion of pop, punk, funk and rockabilly and captured the ears of 1965 Records boss James Endeacott who also signed The Libertines and Mercury Prize nominees, The View. The band split in 2009, however.

After doing some lines
In a club in 1994
She left with his life
On the 8:25 express service
From Victoria
And he took her shopping
A bit of a waster
But a good boyfriend
And he's like
"I'm coming back tomorrow"
That's what he'd always say
"I'm coming back tomorrow,
If that OK"
She left in the morning
(Whoa whoa whoa)
Left a note in the kitchen
(Whoa whoa whoa)
"I'm coming back tomorrow"
That's what he'd always say
"I'm coming back tomorrow,
If that OK"
Two lines in the back and it's like
Oh ah oh ah
Three beers at the bar and I'm like
Oh ah oh ah
Two lines in the back and that's OK
Two beers at the bar and that's today
Live a little
Live a little
I remember the last time that I saw her face
With the Ascot classics and at a Millwall game
And I'm like "She's coming back tomorrow"
That's what he always says
"Coming back tomorrow, if that OK"
And he needs her kisses
(Whoa whoa whoa)
And her sexy misses
(Whoa whoa whoa)
"I'm coming back tomorrow"
That's what he'd always say
"I'm coming back tomorrow,
If that OK"
Two lines in the back and it's like
Oh ah oh ah
Three beers at the bar and I'm like
Oh ah oh ah
Two lines in the back and that's OK
Two beers at the bar and that's today
Live a little
Live a little (repeat to end)
The Metros' "Live a Little" tells the story of a relationship that started in a club in 1994 after the guy caught the girl's eye while doing some lines. They left together on the 8:25 express service from Victoria, and he took her shopping in the East End. Despite being a bit of a waster, he was a good boyfriend who would always say "I'm coming back tomorrow if that's OK." However, she eventually left in the morning, leaving a note in the kitchen, but he still held onto hope that she would come back tomorrow.
The chorus, with its upbeat and catchy melody, encourages listeners to live a little and enjoy life. The mention of doing lines and drinking at the bar portrays a hedonistic lifestyle that the characters in the story are living. However, it also suggests a sense of recklessness and danger that comes with this type of lifestyle.
The lyrics are open to interpretation, but one possible reading is that the couple is caught up in a toxic, addictive relationship fueled by drugs and alcohol. The repetition of "I'm coming back tomorrow" suggests an inability to break free from the cycle of this relationship, and the chorus serves as a reminder to enjoy life without getting too caught up in these vices.
