Mighty Diamonds are a Jamaican trio who had major success during the 70's at the 'Channel One' studio and record label at Maxfield Avenue, Jamaica.
Despite their heyday at Channel One, the trio continued to produce sublime work in later years, notably for 'Gussie Clarke' with the classic 'Pass The Kouchie' which rode an updated cut of an old Studio One instrumental called 'Full Up'. The tune was also covered by the English group 'Musical Youth' but was known as 'Pass The Dutchie'.

When you've got to face reality.
Don't you hurt your brother man too much, cos,
No man is an island, no man stands alone.
Go seek your rights,
I don't say you must fight,
But if it ever ever comes to the test,
You must surely, surely, try try your best, cos,
Look at the branches they are losing their color,
Watch them as they grow, Lord, each and every hour.
Then if man should fight against man,
You must prepare to give a helping hand, Lord.
No man is an island, no man stands alone.
Go seek your rights, I don't say you must fight.
But if it ever ever ever comes to the test,
You must surely, surely, surely, try and try your best,
cos,
No man is an island, no man stands alone.
No man is an island, no man stands alone.
No man is an island, no man stands alone.
The Mighty Diamonds's song, "Go Seek Your Rights," is a call to action for every individual to stand up for their rights and fight against oppression. The lyrics urge listeners not to hurt their fellow man or woman, emphasizing that "no man is an island, no man stands alone." This alludes to the idea that we are all connected and must work together to improve our collective situation.
The song encourages listeners to seek their rights, but not necessarily through violent means. While the lyrics acknowledge that sometimes fighting may be necessary, it is not the only option. It calls for individuals to try their best to make a difference, regardless of the outcome. The lyrics also speak to the importance of being prepared to assist others in need, as we must look out for one another in order to achieve progress.
The metaphor of the changing color of tree branches as they grow is used to symbolize the gradual progress and change that occurs over time. It highlights the idea that change is a slow process, but one that is constantly happening.
Overall, "Go Seek Your Rights" is an inspirational song that encourages listeners to be proactive in pursuing their rights while also recognizing the importance of unity and working together for a brighter future.
