Thank you! always loved Blackboard Jungle (my intro to this otherworldly music), Cloak and Dagger and Super Ape.

Somehow I had overlooked this album.

So very very good. Mr Lee invented something: the realisation that recorded music could be something more than a facsimile of live performance. Using the loudspeaker as an instrument in itself. Playing the vibrations.

a unique talent.

I love all reggae. I heard Smiley Culture on kids TV in UK, I must have been 6, and thought it was cool. And since then have discovered the whole alternative pop music that is Jamaican music. It is more punk than punk, the rhymes like Ali, wittier than hip hop, more hypnotic than techno, and bass heavier than heavy metal!

And the Upsetter is King. He has made or helped make so much reggae. Sometimes merely good. But at his best, like on this record, he is incomparable.

Music to impress aliens.

(edit: hadn't heard of his death. RIP. his legacy a thousand years. my children will play their children his music)

@Susie B
Being nearly 3hrs late to his show at Nectar Lounge Seattle, I get there, I park illegally, As I am going in,
Here comes Mr. Perry and his lovely assistant, Out of the "Green Room" ...
All I could say to him was "Thank You So Much For All You've Given..."
He nodded smiling and said "Irie Brother"
"I thought I might be late to your show"
"No,
Your right on time"
He Goes On Stage And Blows It Up ...
Turn One Up For The Man Himself. .
My All-time #1..
Mr Lee Perry

it honestly blows my mind how cooridianted this all sounds.

he literally is like making breathing noises into a mic and flowing it into different sounds at one point.

Bought this on vinyl when I was 16 about 20 years ago. No idea how I came across it but what a vibe!!!
