1) The Minstrels/Les Minstrels was Canadian garage/psych band formed 1986 in Quebec City. They relocated to Vancouver in the early 90s and finally moved to San Francisco in the late 90s.
2) The Minstrels was an American folk-rock band formed in Rochester, NY, in 1998.. Their sound, associated with genres such as folk noir, dark folk, and gothic folk, mainly comprised acoustic and electric guitar, bass, accordion, piano, keyboard, and musical saw. Their songs are emotionally direct and usually built on a core of acoustic instrumentation, but liberal use of reverb, delay and other effects often gives them an ethereal quality. In 2005--after playing, recording, and evolving through various lineups--they joined the roster of Klem North Records, a Pennsylvania-based label founded by Samezvous of the band Los Halos. Their debut full-length, "Our Cruel Demise", was released in August 2006. The follow-up was released in early 2009.

People Get Ready

There's a train a comin'
You don't need no baggage you just get on board
All you need is faith
To hear the diesel comin'
Don't need no ticket you just thank the Lord
People get ready
Picking up passengers from coast to coast
Faith is key
Open the doors and board them
There's hope for all among the love the most
There ain't no room for the hopeless sinner
Who would hurt all mankind just to save his own soul
Have pity on those whose choices grow thinner
There ain't no hiding place from the Kingdom's throne
People get ready
There's a train a comin'
You don't need no baggage you just get on board
All you need is faith
To hear the diesel comin'
Don't need no ticket you just thank the Lord
There's a train there's a train there's a train comin' people
There's a train there's a train there's a train comin' people
There's a train there's a train there's a train comin' people
Just get on board
There ain't no room for the hopeless sinner
Who would hurt all mankind just to save his own soul
Have pity on those whose choices grow thinner
There ain't no hiding place from the Kingdom's throne
The Minstrels's song "People Get Ready" is a powerful gospel-inspired anthem about the coming of a train that serves as a metaphor for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. The song encourages listeners to prepare themselves spiritually for this event, which is depicted as a journey to the Kingdom of Heaven. The song speaks to the idea that all people, regardless of their station in life or their earthly possessions, have the opportunity to be saved through faith and love.
The train imagery in the song represents a journey towards spiritual enlightenment and salvation. The lyrics invite listeners to ditch their material possessions and trust in faith to board the train. The train is also said to be going to Jordan and picking up passengers from all over, indicating that salvation is available to people from all walks of life. The lyrics also warn of the danger of indulging in sinful behavior and focusing only on personal gain, with a reminder that there is no hiding place from God's judgment.
