The band's original lineup consisted of Wayne Hussey (vocals, guitar), Craig Adams (bass), Simon Hinckler (guitar) and Mick Brown (drums). Hussey and Adams were formerly members of The Sisters of Mercy, Mick Brown was a former member of Red Lorry Yellow Lorry and Hickler was a former member of Artery and Pulp. Wayne Hussey has been the only constant member of the band.
The backbone of the band's catalogue consists of seven main albums (Gods Own Medicine, Children, Carved in Sand, Masque, Neverland, Blue, Aura and God Is A Bullet) with several complementing albums, compilations and other miscellaneous releases also in existence.
The Mission attracted a faithful following band of fans, known a 'Eskimos'. Gigs typically had an energetic mosh pit (prior to the term being coined) sustained by a lot of Eskimos.
Other bandmembers:
Mark Gemini Thwaite (guitar, 1992-1996, 1999-2000, 2006-2008)
Andy Cousin (bass, 1992-1996)
Rik Carter (keyboards, 1992-1998)
Scott Garrett (drums, 1999-2002)
Rob Holliday (guitar, 2001-2005)
Richard Vernon (bass, 2002-2008)
Richard Beesley (drums, 2002)
Steve Spring (drums, 2003-2008)
In October 2007, Wayne Hussey announced the band would split after a series of early 2008 concerts at Shepherds Bush Empire in London.
In 2010, it was announced that The Mission would reform to perform at the Sinners Day Festival in Belgium on Halloween, 2011.

The Mission Lyrics

No, you're not going anywhere
Run around the town, singing your blues
No, you're not going anywhere
You've always been a good friend of mine
And you always said farewell
But the only time that you're satisfied is
Throw down your gun, you might shoot yourself
Or is that what you're trying to do
Put up a fight you believe to be right
Someday the sun will shine through
You've always got something to hide,
Something you just can't tell
And the only time that you're satisfied is
When your feet's in the wishing well
And I know what you're wishing for
Love in a peaceful world
Love in a peaceful world
Love in a peaceful world
You've always been a good friend of mine
And you always said farewell
And the only time that you're satisfied is
When your feet's in the wishing well
Wishing well
Wishing well
Yeah
The Mission's "Wishing Well" is a song about a friend who is stuck in a rut and struggles to find happiness. The singer tells his friend to take off his hat and kick off his shoes, but he warns him that he's not going anywhere. The friend is singing his blues and running around the town, but he's still not going anywhere. The singer notes that his friend has always been a good friend, but he's only happy when his feet are in the wishing well, which is a metaphor for his constant search for fulfillment.
The lyrics then turn towards the friend's self-destructive behavior. The singer tells him to throw down his gun, as he might end up shooting himself, unless that's what he's trying to do. The friend believes that his fight is right, but the singer assures him that someday the sun will shine through. The friend always has something to hide, something he can't tell, and he's only satisfied when his feet are in the wishing well.

A great version of a classic rock track. I'm not sure it's quite up to Rodgers' version, but then again, Paul Rodgers is special. I think Simon Hinkler would concur, as I think it was him who brought this to the band. Not worse, just different, and glorious! Keep the Faith!

Oh,God!My 11 year old daughter wrote a comment about Iron Maiden and alot of people (i don't know why) were swearing at her!My husband read them and got very mad.She is a little girl and for her age she is very kind, sweet and careening.I can't understand why people are so rude in our days? She read about the comments and she started crying.Althoug i'm a goth and my husband is into heavy metal ,we are trying to raise our kids to be good, respect everyone and be kind.

i met wayne and the mission band in 2008 when they came in italy for a concert. Simon was not there obviolusly replaced by mark thwaite, I spent all the day with them since i was at noon at the palace event. Wayne was not at the top of the vocal having a bad cold so i told him to replace and playback him , we started singing and we had a good day. He was usually handind his wine bottle..In that occasion i gave him a t shirt printed on my own with all the cd labels discography of the band..:)
