The Moments - had only one major pop hit with "Love on a Two Way Street" except in the UK where 'Girls', 'Dolly My Love' and 'Jack In The Box' all charted.They had many years of successful singles on the R&B charts. The Moments who are originally from Washington, D.C.with Mark Greene also had an underground hit with "Not on the Outside" which was accepted my local listeners instantly!

Later in the mid-80's, The Moments became Ray, Goodman & Brown, changed labels (Polydor) and garnered a few more hits, most noted the track "Special Lady".

Lead singer Harry Ray died in 1992, and was replaced by Kevin Owens, who sung as one of Luther Vandross' background vocalists. Bass singer Al Goodman died in 2010.

You missed my favorite joke, a moment from Donatello in the Tmnt movie from 2007 (a completely underrated movie if you ask me). The one about Shredder cutting off pieces of Baxter's body seriously disturbs me, even as an adult. You realize that he's actually a physically and emotionally tortured hostage, not just a villain. Psychologically disturbing stuff like that would've given me way more nightmares as a kid than something visual, like Baxter's jaw falling off because he's turning into Frankenstein's monster.

I know that I am late, but I will still reply. As a kid, I wondered about this. That I would not want to be in Stockman's place and felt sorry for him. Shredder was intimidating already, but what was he doing to Stockman was terrifying and sad. No, I didn't have nightmares and I wasn't scared, but it was disturbing. Especially that episode with him remembering his past and having this Frankenstein monster's body.

In the 2003 series, the turtles were sent to different dimensions. Raph was sent to a racing planet, Leo was sent to Usagi's world, I forget where Mikey went, but Donnie was sent to an apocalyptic future where Leo was blind, Mikey was missing an arm, Splinter was dead, Raph was scarred up, and in the end they all died.

The 2003 series wasn't just for kids though, it was always meant to be a more serious take that would also appeal to teens and young adults who liked TMNT in the 80's and 90's.
People have said the 2003 series is to TMNT what Batman: The Animated Series was to Batman or what the DCAU Justice League was to those characters.
That's a very good comparison.
And of course, the 2003 series adapted much of the original Mirage TMNT comics, which weren't targeted toward young kids at all.

Regarding Mikey putting his hards on April's boob, well, in those days, it was common practice for different teams to animate different characters. It's plausible that the position of his hand was due to the key frames not being detailed enough. When combining the cells of various characters, something like this was due to crop up. Not intentional, but still amusing.

The Michelangelo-April ship is fairly common, actually; Leonardo is the straight guy, Donatello is the engineer of the group with little focus outside his tech fixations, Raphael is... a lot to unpack in short, and the only real party dude, in hindsight, is Michelangelo.

TMNT is my absolute favorite and my favorite version is the 2003 TMNT version, unlike the original cartoon it is more enjoyable to watch now vs. when I was a kid because there's so much more I catch and understand. Season 5 is the best ever in my book.

I remember the original comics. They were not kid friendly at all. I remember getting them when young at a Comic Book store in Westbrook where my cousin lived. It was a huge deal because one of the creator's of the comic grew up there and was a local celebrity. The series changed so much as to become a cartoon friendly, kid friendly series. The first movie was based on the comics, but Leonardo was the loner instead of Raphael taking the damage dealt by the Foot Clan. The violence in the original comics combined with adult situations made it seem impossible for it to be kid friendly. But then again, everything can be changed when interest changes and lots of money is involved. Take in part Voltron from Beast King Go lion... Nanny died and Silver/Sven actually died... my childhood was all a lie...

I recall in the 2012 Nickelodeon series (which is probably my favorite series, right up there with the 80's series) the Turtles were fighting that Fishface character and they put him on dry land, cut his breathing tube, then just simply walked away from him as he was laying there suffocating...they pretty much left him there to die. I thought that was more of a "TV14" moment and not really for younger kids.

3:35 As the mom of an 8 year old boy, I can assure you that he is well aware of his anatomy, but he just giggled & didn't give this moment another thought. I don't have a daughter, but I'd imagine it would just go over a small girl's head. IMO, most questionable moments in kids' entertainment only seem "inappropriate" or "sexual" to adults because they're specifically added for that purpose.

I didn't think it was inappropriate (being an 80s kid, I thought it was cool), but in the first TMNT episode of the 80s, both Leo and Ralph start to slice through the Foot soldiers for the very first time, only for one of them say, "Did you just go 'clank?'" Even as a kid, I always thought that they thought the Foot were human and they were intending to kill the soldiers.

I take exception to one thing you said. That TMNT was always for kids.
Eastman and Laird's original comic book that started it all was not aimed at kids at the time. It was full of bloody cuts and violent scenes that would be very toned down for when they reached the screen of afternoon cartoons.
I enjoyed this video though. I never realized the adult humor intertwined into the various series.

In one episode of Next Mutation there was a shot where Donatello goes to pat Venus on the shoulder, but misses and pats her breast instead. The Donnie actor clearly couldn't see very well in the costume. The Venus actress looks down towards the offending hand before it cuts to a different shot. The incident was likely unintentional, but it getting through editing and into the final cut of the episode was definitely no accident.

I am 43, so I was a child when the Turtles hit the scene, and I grew up with all versions of them. It dawned on me at a pretty early age that the issue of sex and relationships with the characters was a real problem. Being the only members of their species, they could either go incest gay, cross species with some weirdo, or be celibate…I know it sounds ridiculous, but when you have comics that round out characters to such a deep degree, it gets you wondering.

Well TMNT did involve mutants so of course it's going to have some freaky moments. The comics were basically the opposite of the cartoon. That's what I like about the turtles, there's a different version for everybody. An honorable mention would be that time Shredder got brought back from the dead in the 2012 series.

You forgot the part in the old live-action TMNT movie where the turtles go back in time and April gets captured and she makes a "You make me wanna puke" hand motion and a bad guy says "you aint the first girl to do that to me." and he laughs. She points her finger in her mouth like she is gonna make herself puke but that insult would not exist in ancient times so it looks and sounds dirty to the bad guy. She wants to put a part of him in her mouth? Go look at that part of the movie. It's like an oral sex hint to him in some way.

Calling the Mikey untying April animation an adult moment is a pretty big stretch, it looks a bit more odd on the second pass of him untying her but those animation frames are just recycled from the first pass... which is extremely common animation practice. "Bass to Mouth" on the other hand, there is no denying that was on purpose.

Splinter then goes on to say something like "age has it's virtues". Lots of old guy young girl stuff in the first series. I haven't seen the newer series yet

This is coming from someone who grew up at the height of the original TMNT mania: I think the Nickelodeon turtles are the best. The original animated has its charm and nostalgia, but I can't kid myself that it is anywhere near as good. Plus the Nick version honours and improves on the original at every turn so it doesn't feel like a replacement. Quality stuff

If you're talking about the 2012 series, I agree. The original is too hokey. But, was fun for it's time. The 2012 is an update to the original done much better. My love for the original is from nostalgia.
The 2018 turtles reboot, though, is complete modern kids cartoon garbage!

The animation is worse, the colors are too bright, there is no real story arc, I don't like Master Splinter's character (I liked him a lot in the Nickelodeon version), they replaced great villains like Shredder, Krang, the Rat King and Baxter Stockman with some pretty incompetent ones like Hypno and Alberto, the episodes are boring and so on. (IMO)

Half the list was just crazy mental gymnastics. If innuendo was involved it's subtle enough kids wouldn't get it but keep adults attention. Like a lot of children's movies, throw subtle adult humor in to keep it enjoyable for the parents.

despite what many believe, the original TMNT wasn't really meant for kids, in fact most of the first comics were meant to appeal to teens and young adults. And most of them featured adult content and was pretty gory.

I thought I was gonna see more scenes from TMNT 2012 like when Alopex mutilated Tiger Claw's hand and they showed it in camera, when they decapitated Shredder and we saw his head falling to the floor, when Mikey decapitated 3 humanoid animals in the Usagi Jojimbo episodes and we saw their heads falling to the floor, and all other scenes that I was actually surprised to see in a nickelodeon show

I loved the 1980s cartoon and the 2002 cartoon. I loved the original movies but not the Michael Bay Turtles that's why im so glad they are remaking and rebooting the Turtle movies going old school with the Turtles with a little new school. The only thing I enjoyed from Michael Bay was all the Transformers movies I hope he makes Voltron soon.

The Ninja Turtles were not always aimed for kids. The original 80s Mirage comics were gritty and violent and were even gritty and violent in the 90s. The 80s cartoon ruined them. At least the 2003 version tried to bring back that grittiness, as did the original 1990 movie.

I'll always like the original cartoon series best, but the 2012 one was pretty damn good! 2002/2003's series was closer to the comics, but it was often bland, and after getting used to Krang, Bebop, Rocksteady and Shredder in one room together, how can you have the good guys without at least the four of those bad guys?

Say what you will about the last film, but Bebop and Rocksteady were my favorites! Krang too!

Sometimes things like these just randomly slip in I think. Adults are making these cartoons, not kids for kids. Maybe its even good to have such stuff in cartoons in small doses as a gateway to much creepier stuff you will see as you get older.
