2. The Moments - had only one major pop hit with "Love on a Two Way Street" except in the UK where 'Girls', 'Dolly My Love' and 'Jack In The Box' all charted.They had many years of successful singles on the R&B charts. The Moments who are originally from Washington, D.C.with Mark Greene also had an underground hit with "Not on the Outside" which was accepted my local listeners instantly!

Later in the mid-80's, The Moments became Ray, Goodman & Brown, changed labels (Polydor) and garnered a few more hits, most noted the track "Special Lady".

Lead singer Harry Ray died in 1992, and was replaced by Kevin Owens, who sung as one of Luther Vandross' background vocalists. Bass singer Al Goodman died in 2010.

The moments hands down the most under appreciated group, billy brown is on my top 5 greatest vocalist of all time,especially amongst tenors, Ted mills, Russell Tompkins jr, Harry ray who sang along side billy in the moments and Ray,Goodman and brown.

@akbar muhammad I think it was 1971 too because I saw them at the Upton too and I think this was their latest hit at the time. I believe The Main Ingredient was also on the bill and they sang "You Are My Inspiration" which was their first single as a group and a recent hit. They also sang their newest single, "I'm So Proud", a remake that is even better than the original done by Curtis Mayfield and that is something hard to do ! Both are now classics. I can hear the the beginning notes in my head now. I think the instruments included an oboe ! I remember it all so clearly. I was in 10th or 11th grade and I went to the show with my girlfriends Jackie and Lorraine. What great memories.

Mark Greene is a good vocalist, you can check out his version of “not on the outside” on YouTube, but it’s very clear who the superior singer was, and that’s billy brown, mark singing along side billy in some of there hits was a beautiful combination, they paired well before Harry ray entered the group

Young black girls had it waaaay better back then. All these love songs were for them. Their self esteem had to be through the roof. These songs taught black men how to relate to them. It’s simple…, the words you hear in your ear determine the direction of your emotions. A girl from a broken home could go visit her friends and hear the most incredible words coming from the record player. It was such a great out from the harsh realities of life. Then she’d maybe meet the love of her life and all her troubles were over ( for the moment). It was good back then. Really it was!

yeah its was a good thing when harry ray joined them it gave billy a chance to rest his voice because he had started having problems with his voice from singing in that high range on somes songs he sang in a lower key almost baritone at times listen to this old house and nines times and plus it gave them a different sound not many group had two guys that sing tenor and falsetto at time same most groups had one at least

Yep. Harry joined the group around 1970. His first solo cut is "If I Didn't Care." This was done in '69.

@DC JOE Greene actually owns the trademark to the Moments name tho.. That's why and how he is able to tour with a group billed as "The Moments featuring Mark Greene".

@DC JOE Sure...Morgan was one of the original Moments (1965), along with Eric Olfus and Richard Gross. Soon Mark Greene joined, the group became a quartet, and released "Not On The Outside". Olfus; Gross; and Greene all left later in 1968. Morgan stayed, and later Goodman and Brown joined and became Moments along with Morgan. Morgan left in 1970, although he was still featured on album covers, while Goodman and Brown wereactually performing as a duo until Harry Ray joined.
