For Pete's Sake
The Monkees Lyrics
Love is understanding
Don't you know that this is true?
Love is understanding
It's in everything we do
In this generation (in this generation)
In this lovin' time (in this lovin' time)
In this generation (in this generation)
We will make the world shine
This is something we all need
We were born to love one another
We must be what we're goin' to be
And what we have to be is free
In this generation
In this lovin' time
In this generation
We will make the world shine
We were born to love one another
This is something we all need
We were born to love one another
We must be what we're goin' to be
And what we have to be is free
Love is understanding, we gotta be free (in this generation)
Love is understanding, we gotta be free (in this generation)
In this generation
Love is understanding, we gotta be free (in this generation)
We gotta be free (in this generation)
We gotta be free (in this generation)
We gotta be free (in this generation)

Love this Pete Tork song. It should have been released as a single.

I love at the end, Peter makes sure that Davy moves out front. After Davy died, Peter cried in an interview. He really loved his Monkee brother. RIP Manchester Cowboy

@The Monkees Archives I saw Mike Nesmith start to cry when telling how he heard when Peter died. Even though he and Peter didn’t get along, he still got emotional about his passing. 😥
Edit: I read the other comments and Wendy P already mentioned the same exact thing. It was sad.

Reading this comment after Peter’s death hits different 😭

As Micky says, they were "brothers in arms" and had a special bond they couldn't share with anyone else. In a 2019 interview with Micky and Michael for an Aussie TV station, Michael broke down and cried when he was retelling the story of getting the news that Peter had died. Very moving. Like real siblings, there were times when they fought and didn't get along, but deep down, they each loved and cared deeply for their Monkee brothers!
