Make It Right
The Mowgli's Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You always come right on time when I've had that kind of night
And it ain't hard to take you home but that don't make it right
And you were different from your friends
You didn't live in magazines
You were crying all the time
Wish I could make it right

But you've been hanging round these days more than I'd like

We fall in love in every dream
We shared a bed but couldn't sleep
We have some kind of love but that don't make it right
And all the silly little things that you said but you didn't mean
We got real good love but that don't make it right
And you can say I'm wrong but that don't make it right

I'm just a little bit too late and you know
I get that way and if I had a chance I swear id apologize
But you leave before I wake to wherever it is you
Go these days and that's fine but it still don't make it right

We fall in love in every dream
We shared a bed but couldn't sleep
We have some kind of love but that don't make it right
And all the silly little things that you said but you didn't mean
We got real good love but that don't make it right
And you can say I'm wrong but that don't make it right

We fall in love in every dream
We shared a bed but couldn't sleep
We have some kind of love but that don't make it right
And all the silly little things that you said but you didn't mean
We got real good love but that don't make it right
And you can say I'm wrong but that don't make it right

We fall in love in every dream
We shared a bed but couldn't sleep
We have some kind of love but that don't make it right
And all the silly little things that you said but you didn't mean

We got real good love but that don't make it right
And you can say I'm wrong but that don't make it right

Overall Meaning

The Mowgli's song "Make It Right" is about a relationship that is complicated and not quite right, despite the love that exists between the two people involved. The lyrics suggest that the singer has been taking someone home after tough nights, but they know deep down that it doesn't make the situation any better. The person they're with is different from their friends, more genuine, but they cry all the time, and the singer wishes they could make things better.

The song goes on to describe how the two of them fall in love in their dreams, but have trouble sleeping when they're together in reality. They have some kind of love, but it's not enough to make the situation right. The singer acknowledges that there have been silly little things said that weren't meant, and maybe they have real good love, but it still doesn't make things right. The repetition of "we fall in love in every dream" reinforces the idea that their love isn't enough to make things work in reality.

The overall message of the song is that sometimes love isn't enough to make things right, especially if the relationship dynamic is unhealthy or complicated. Despite the love and connection between the two people, they still can't seem to make things work, and the singer reflects on the impossibility of changing the situation.
