Time
The Mowgli's Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I don't like time, time is making me old
But I'm doing alright 'cause I will still be young tomorrow
And I can't stand working all day work is wearing out my soul
I think I'll go out tonight and I will call in sick tomorrow
I get so down about this world sometimes
I cannot understand people, no not at all
But, I hope to see a change in man
I hope to see us love one another and I know we can
My bank account is runnin' out
I'm paying fees for overdrafts but when I win the lottery
I'll tell Bo Fa that they can kiss my ass
'Cause I don't like time, time's ticking away my life
So I live the way I want to live and I will live this way till I am dead
When life gets hard you've got remember who you are
And forget about what people think
Just be who you want to be

Don't you want to see how good life can be?
Lets make a harmony and life will sing
And I wait for you to come home
I haven't seen you in so long I don't remember what you look like
So I will see you for the first time
I've been dreaming of the open road

I've got this feeling like I won't be coming home anytime soon
Lets go around this world and make it new
Lets get lost, lets walk into the dark and forget about our sorrows
We'll learn to let go
Singin' oh I know we can

Don't you want to see how good life can be?
Lets make a harmony and life will sing

Overall Meaning

The Mowgli's song "Time" is an ode to living life on your own terms and not letting time wear you out. The song begins with the lyrics "I don't like time, time is making me old," which sets the tone for the song's overarching theme of resisting the constraints of traditional adult life. The singer says they are doing alright because they will still be young tomorrow, even as time continues to tick away.

The lyrics discuss the challenges of working all day, paying fees for overdrafts, and feeling down about the state of the world. However, the singer maintains hope for humanity and expresses a desire to see a change in people. They dream of a world where love and harmony prevail, and everyone can live life on their own terms.

The song also contains a note of longing, with the lyrics "and I wait for you to come home, I haven't seen you in so long I don't remember what you look like, so I will see you for the first time." This is further reinforced with the desire to hit the open road and explore the world with a loved one, as a means of forgetting about sorrows and learning to let go.

Overall, "Time" is a song about living in the present moment, taking risks, and creating a life that feels authentic and fulfilling. It encourages listeners to pursue their dreams, embrace change, and never stop hoping for a better future.

Okay what's going on. The mowglis are one of the most original bands I've heard, their sound is amazing, I love the harmonies, everything is amazing. The commentaries on all their songs are cool too and I don't see why there aren't millions and millions of views on all their vids. I mean these guys are great. Why don't people care more? If you guys actually read the comments though please keep it up I really enjoy listening to all your songs, and I can't wait for another album.

God DAMN. These guys are awesome! I heard them on the radio up here in Vancouver and fell in love. Intelligent lyrics, Creative ORIGINAL melodies, Insightful songs. These dudes are the one of the last, thoroughly talented bands on the radio today. Please, For the love of God, Make more Music. -Your Newest Fan.

@caylay2010

I saw these guys live last night and the lyrics of this song just wrapped me up in happiness and hope for tomorrow...as cheesy as that sounds but on another note, they are PHENOMENAL live :)

@emilyxox3xo

this song is absolutely amazing

@thatonedude

Years ago I added this song to my playlist (700+ strong) and for one purpose. To remind myself of where I came from. I love this song but one issue: it's connected to my ex. It's like I love the pain this song gives me. I love seeing how much I've grown but hate where I've been and the time I've lost and wasted.

@Echiinacea

I just heard this song for the first time yesterday and I have probably listened to it like 40 times. I love it so much

@CarleyTrammell

Sometimes I really just feel like this is my anthem, the distaste for time, the hatred of banks and money, and the desire to see love throughout.

@joshuaebbens5338

Love it.

@TerramotoInc

This song cuts to the bone 🦴

@avataraarow

This song is so fantastic, I think a solid quarter of the views on this video are just me
