He liked icicles and snow
The tree enjoyed the snowfall and the icicles that decorated its surroundings.

The tree liked the animals that surrounded his habitat.

And critters and creatures that crawled
The tree was fond of many small creatures, including insects.

Why bugs were some of his very best friends
The tree enjoyed the company of bugs and thus had a friendly relationship with them.

Spiders and ants and all
The tree liked spiders, ants, and most other crawling creatures.

Now that’s not to say that he ever looked down
The tree did not look down upon the festive ideas of lights and ornaments.

On a vision of twinkled lights
The decorative lights that people put on during the holiday season were still pleasant to the tree.

Or on mirrored bubbles and peppermint canes
The tree did not care for peppermint or candy canes, but the shiny bubbles were amusing.

And a thousand other delights
The tree could find enjoyment in many other festive decorations and delights.

And he often had dreams of tiny reindeer
The tree would often dream about reindeer and Santa's sleigh.

And a jolly old man in a sleigh
Alfie imagined Santa Claus riding his sleigh pulled by reindeer during Christmas time.

Full of toys and presents and wonderful things
Alfie pictured Santa bearing gifts and presents for everyone during Christmas time.

And a story of Christmas Day
Alfie was fond of the story of Christmas and the significance of the day.

Oh, Alfie believed in Christmas alright
Alfie took Christmas very seriously and believed in the spirit of the holiday.

He was full of Christmas cheer
Alfie was filled with joy and happiness during the holiday season.

All of each and every day
Alfie's belief in Christmas was not limited to the holiday season alone.

And all throughout the year
Alfie believed in the spirit of Christmas throughout the year.

To him it was more than a special time
For Alfie, Christmas was not just a time, but something bigger.

Much more than a special day
Christmas was not just one particular day for Alfie; it was more meaningful to him than that.

It was more than a special story, it was more than a beautiful story
Alfie believed that Christmas was not just a story but something more significant.

It was a special kind of way
Christmas was a unique and special way of being for Alfie.

You see some folks have never heard a jingle bell ring
Some people have not had the experience of listening to the sound of jingle bells.

And they’ve never heard of Santa Claus
There are individuals in the world who are unfamiliar with Santa Claus or the legend of this figure.

They’ve never heard the story of the Son of God
Some people have never been told the story of Jesus Christ and his message of peace and love.

That made Alfie pause
Alfie was saddened by the thought that some people may have missed out on great things in life.

Did that mean that they’d never know of peace on Earth
Would not knowing about Jesus and Santa Claus mean that people were ignorant of the idea of peace on Earth?

Or the Brotherhood of Man
Would people be unable to appreciate the concept of brotherhood and solidarity between humans?

Or know how to love, or know how to give
Would people fail to understand the importance of love and giving in life?

If they can’t no one can
Alfie felt that if people could not learn these things, then no one could.

You see, life is a very special kind of thing
Life is precious and valuable in a unique way.

Not just for a chosen few
Life should be cherished by all and not just by a select few.

But for each and every living, breathing thing
All living creatures are special and valuable.

Not just me and you
Life is not limited to just you and the person beside you.

So when you’re at Christmas prayers this year
During Christmas time, when you say your prayers,

Alfie asked me if I’d ask you
Alfie requested the singer to ask people to pray.

Say a prayer for the wind and the water and the wood
In your prayers, think of the wind, water, and the forests and the animals living there.

And those who live there too
Include the creatures who live among the wind, water, and forests in your prayers.

It's in every one of us to be wise.
Wisdom is within us all.

Find your heart, open up both your eyes.
You should tap into your emotions and be aware of everything around you

We can all know everything without ever knowing why.
We have the potential to learn things without necessarily understanding them.

It's in every one of us, by and by.
The capacity to be wise is present in all of us.

It's in every one of us to be wise.
Wisdom is within us all.

Find your heart, open up both your eyes.
You should tap into your emotions and be aware of everything around you.

We can all know everything without ever knowing why.
