The word "Muppet" itself was said by Henson to have been created by combining the words "marionette" and "puppet"; however, Henson was also known to have stated that it was just something he liked the sound of, and he made up the "marionette/puppet" story while talking to a journalist because it sounded plausible.
Muppets are distinguished from ventriloquist "dummies", which are typically animated only in the head and face, in that their arms or other features are also mobile and expressive. Muppets are typically made of softer materials. They are also presented as being independent of the puppeteer, who is usually not visible, hidden behind a set or outside of the camera frame.

We wish you a Merry Christmas
We wish you a Merry Christmas
We wish you a Merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
Now bring us a figgy pudding
No, Figgy pudding, it's made with figs (oh sorry)
and bacon (what?)
We wish you a Merry Christmas
We wish you a Merry Christmas
We wish you a Merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
We won't go until we get some (won't go, won't go)
We won't go until we get some (won't go, won't go)
We won't go until we get some (won't go, won't go, Animal, sit, bad))
So bring some out here
We wish you a Merry Christmas
We wish you a Merry Christmas
We wish you a Merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
We wish you a Merry Christmas
We wish you a Merry Christmas
We wish you a Merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
The Muppets & John Denver's rendition of "We Wish You A Merry Christmas" is a playful and energetic take on a classic holiday tune. The song begins with the opening line repeated four times, setting the festive mood for the rest of the song. The chorus is simple yet catchy, consisting of the classic holiday greeting, "We wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year," which is sung multiple times throughout the song.
The lyrics take a comedic turn when the Muppets ask for some "figgy pudding." As the conversation develops, it becomes clear that there is some confusion amongst the Muppets about what exactly figgy pudding is made of. Piggy, a pig Muppet, mistakes it for "piggy pudding," which leads to some hilarious banter with the other Muppets about whether or not bacon is an ingredient. The song ends with the Muppets refusing to leave until they get some figgy pudding, making for a lighthearted and amusing holiday tune.
Overall, the Muppets & John Denver's "We Wish You A Merry Christmas" is a playful and lively song that puts a unique spin on a beloved holiday classic. The addition of Muppets to the musical collaboration adds a fun and whimsical element, making it an enjoyable listen for fans of all ages.

This was our family's 'go to' Christmas music in the 90s. We listened to it coming back from Thanksgiving until going to my aunt's house for Christmas. I LOVE every second of this album. It really IS my youth.
