In 2001 the song Take the Long Road and Walk It circulated as a demo, before being released by Fierce Panda. The band were quickly signed by EMI/Virgin imprint, Hut, who released their first EP You Might as Well Try to Fuck Me.
In 2002, following another EP, The People, they released their eponymous debut album.
In Autumn 2004, they released their second album, Welcome to the North, and the accompanying single Freedom Fighters, before touring with Incubus. One of the singles from the album, Breakin', became a hit on American rock radio.
Their eagerly awaited third album entitled Strength in Numbers was released in June 2008. However, in September 2010, singer/songwriter Robert Harvey confirmed the group's intention to split, and on 31 March 2011 the band announced a series of farewell shows in Japan and the UK.

The lyrics to The Music's song Karma are about a person who finally understands why their significant other had questioned them about possible infidelity in the past. The singer realizes that they had made a mistake in not trusting their partner and in not understanding their desire to leave. The partner confesses that they had sought warmth from another person and that their guilt is keeping them up at night. The singer regrets not seeing the signs earlier and wagering everything on their love, causing them to lose everything.

Love this tune, probably my favourite track by them and the whole EP is class as well. It's just painful how underrated The Music actually are considering how good they are. They're better then most of the usual NME shite that gets churned out these days

I understand what you are saying. I feel the same way when I hear their music from 2002, and I felt the very same way about the atmosphere and everything when I seen them live for the first time. I seen them in San Francisco and I just couldn't get enough. Found out where they were playing next and was on my way to see them again in Las Vegas had to feel that vibe again.I cant explain it either ....but I understand !!
