The Ends
The Naked and Famous Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Before you gave yourself a chance
For all the times I've let it past
It's all about to end at last
It's all about to end at last
It's all about to end at last
It's all about to end at last
It's all about to end at last
The above lyrics from The Naked and Famous's song The Ends is a reflection on the fleeting and transitory nature of life. It speaks to the idea that everything is moving at such a rapid pace that it can be hard to catch up and appreciate the present moment. The first line "The world's escaping much too fast" sets the tone for the rest of the song - that life is slipping away and there is an urgency to seize the moment. The next line speaks directly to the listener, reminding them that they have to act fast - "Before you gave yourself a chance". This could be interpreted as a call to action to live life to the fullest and not waste any more time.
The following lines "For all the times I've let it past, It's all about to end at last" could be interpreted as the singer reflecting on past mistakes and missed opportunities. The repetition of "It's all about to end at last" drives home the sense of finality, that time is running out and there is no going back. The lyrics are open to interpretation, but one interpretation could be that the song is a reminder to live in the present, appreciate the moment and take action before it's too late.
