Carry You
The Native Sibling Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I see where you've been, stuck in your doubt
I know where you are and I'm coming to bail you out
Engulfed in your sin, and what you have known
I know where you are and I'm coming to carry you home

In comfort I hold, unstable at most
leading to choices I knew I would later disown
They won't go on their own, and pearls on my brow
Work left in my hands if only I could use them now

All of the troubles that you push aside now
are no longer your stories to tell
All of the words that never left your mouth
are no longer what's holding you down

I'll carry you home

Overall Meaning

The Native Sibling's "Carry You" is a song that speaks of hope and comfort, even in the midst of doubt and sin. The song's opening lines convey a sense of empathy and understanding for the person who is struggling, as the singer declares that they know where the person is and that they're coming to "bail them out" and "carry them home." The use of the word "sin" shows that the person might be going through a difficult time in terms of their faith or personal beliefs, and the singer offers to be a beacon of light for them.

As the song progresses, the singer speaks of holding the person in comfort despite their unstable state, perhaps offering a sense of security and safety that the person might not have experienced before. The lines "leading to choices I knew I would later disown" suggest that the singer has gone through their own struggles and made their own mistakes, but has come out on the other side stronger and more compassionate. The use of the phrase "pearls on my brow" is a metaphor for the burden of responsibility that the singer is bearing, and the desire to help even if they don't know how.

The chorus of the song offers a sense of release and liberation, as the singer urges the person to let go of their troubles and worries. The use of the phrase "no longer your stories to tell" shows that the person is not defined by their struggles or past mistakes, and that they have the power to create a new narrative for themselves.

The beauty in these lyrics...

"I see where you've been, stuck in your doubt
I know where you are and I'm coming to bail you out
Engulfed in your sin, and what you have known
I know where you are and I'm coming to carry you home"

I can't express how grateful I am for being able to have discovered these two
I hope to be able to meet them someday

Wow, this song came at just the right moment. I heard one of yalls songs in an add, and searched everywhere to find you. I started listening to your music as I'm packing up to head back to college this weekend. I live with anxiety disorder and as I'm packing, I started to feel very overwhelmed and frightened about going back. Then like a sign from God, this song started playing. The lyrics are really soothing and this song is definitely going to serve as an encouragement for me. Thank you.
