Time to let it go
Free the chains that bind you
Let your heart go and follow the call
With every beating of my heart
Every _____(?) of my soul
Like the air surrounds the earth
Plenty times we find ourselves
In the place that it all comes down
And it seems there is no hope
And forever we're falling
Falling away, where we will we be
It's only for the making if we'll only turn the key
Close as your breath, feeling it all
So reach across the moment and come following the call!
Just as life can break your heart
And we know how you feel today
If you dare to dream you'll find
When all you've got you'll just give away
Falling away, where we will we be
It's only for the making if we'll only turn the key
Close as your breath, feeling it all
So reach across the moment and come following the call!
Leave it now, you know it's time
The grief you need you're feeling
But your feelings don't define
Who you are, you're more than your mind
So reach for the connection leaving everything behind
Oh oh oh-ohoh!
Falling away, where we will we be
It's only for the making if we'll only turn the key
Close as your breath, feeling it all
So reach across the moment and come following the call!
Leave it all behind you
Time to let it go
Free the chains that bind you
Let your heart go and follow the call
The lyrics of The Neal Morse Band's The Call talk about letting go of the past and following one's heart. The lines "Leave it all behind you, Time to let it go, Free the chains that bind you" suggest that one needs to move on from whatever is holding them back and take a leap of faith. The phrase "Let your heart go and follow the call" implies that one needs to listen to their heart and follow their true calling.
The verse "Just as life can break your heart, And we know how you feel today, If you dare to dream you'll find, When all you've got you'll just give away" suggests that life can be difficult and that it can be easy to give up. However, if one continues to dream and follow their heart, they will eventually find their way. The chorus encourages the listener to take action and follow their heart, even if it means leaving everything behind.
Overall, The Call is a hopeful song that encourages the listener to take risks and follow their dreams. It acknowledges that life can be tough, but it also suggests that there is always a way forward if one has the courage to follow their heart.

This comment will likely never be seen by anyone, but...The Call's crowning jewel is Randy's pedal's at the close of Bill's solo at 8:15-9:20....brilliant! Portnoy is absolutely on fire in this song as well

Excellent song. I'm a progressive rock artist and this song defines the genre. Moving, apocolyptic at times, off kilter to mimic life's imbalances. Just supurb. -Paul
