Lyrically, McCoy's themes of mysticism are still prevalent. Musically, the album is much harsher than previous Nephilim releases, with a more industrial-metal edge.
After The Nefilim disbanded, McCoy went back to recording under the Fields of the Nephilim banner, Rippin and Miles went on to form Sensorium and Houchin went on to form Saints of Eden.
According to the official Fields of the Nephilim site, Carl McCoy has incorporated "Zoon" into the Fields of the Nephilim discography, after "Earth Inferno".

The Nefilim Lyrics

Nefilim
As she crawls from my hands
Her eyes I think they've found me
Matter
Blood
Her features cease to be traced
Oh forgive me
Now have your place with god
Innocence can be hell
Of the perfumed and penetrated flesh
She's melting, melting away
Of the passions that see and destroy us
This subtle fire, the secret flame
Torture by desire
Transformation from flesh to spirit
Melting, just melt away
There's a stillness
Between the light and me
Nothing but dreams and decay
And the angel
Whose wounds are my lamentation
Oh just melt away
Melting, Melting away...
The Nefilim's song "Melt" is a haunting and deeply introspective track that reflects on the fleeting nature of life and the profound pain that love and desire can bring. The lyrics start with the singer describing a woman who is slipping away from their grasp, and how her eyes seem to be accusing them in some way. The use of "matter" and "blood" in this verse suggests that the woman is dying or already dead, and the singer is lamenting their loss.
The second verse takes on a more spiritual dimension, as the singer implores the woman to "have your place with god" and reflects on the idea that "innocence can be hell." This line suggests that the singer may have had some role in the woman's demise, and that they are wrestling with guilt and regret over their actions.
The chorus of the song is a repeated refrain of "she's melting, melting away," which creates a sense of impermanence and transience. The idea of melting or dissolving is often used as a metaphor for death, and in this song, it seems to represent the idea that everything in life is ultimately fleeting and temporary.
In the third verse, the singer reflects on the destructive nature of desire and passion, and how these powerful emotions can lead to transformation and spiritual growth. The line "torture by desire" suggests that the singer is aware of the pain that love and desire can cause, but also recognizes the transformative power of those very same feelings.
The final verse of the song is perhaps the most mystical and abstract, as the singer describes a "stillness between the light and me" and a sense of dreaming and decay. The "angel" mentioned in this verse could be interpreted as a symbol of hope or redemption, but also as a symbol of the singer's own pain and suffering.
Overall, "Melt" is a complex and deeply emotional song that reflects on themes of love, loss, guilt, and spiritual growth. The use of metaphors and abstract language creates a dream-like atmosphere that enhances the sense of introspection and reflection present in the lyrics.
