The NPG's debut album, Goldnigga featured Tony M. as lead vocalist/rapper. The album relied heavily on rap, while the music itself was reminicent of 1970s funk. Prince participated heavily in writing and performing the music, while Tony wrote and performed raps. Prince provided co-lead vocals on 2 songs, "Black M.F. in the House" and "Johnny", and the 2 were often performed by him in concerts and aftershows.
Prince trimmed down the NPG when he began performing as o(+> in early 1994. This tighter version backed o(+> on The Gold Experience and released Exodus in 1995. Now with Sonny T as lead vocalist, the focus was more on funk. Although several raps were recorded for the album, they were nixed on the final release. o(+> again took a role behind the scenes and adopted the guise of the masked "Tora Tora". He again performed lead vocals on several tracks, sometimes with an altered voice. His participation in this version of the NPG was much more apparent.
Get Wild
The New Power Generation Lyrics

Get wild! Ooh, ooh, baby!
Get wild! {x4}
When you're sick of that 9 2 5
And you're ready 2 come alive
When you look both high and low
Come on, baby (Aw shucks!), where the good times never die
Come on, baby (Aw shucks!), where the damsels good and fly
Come on, baby, you can shake your funky monkey till it cry
Polyvinyl acetate will keep your monkey high
If you wanna get real freaky, now's the time 2 try (Come on y'all)
CHORUS:
Get wild! - Everybody up in the place
Get wild! - It don't matter what sex or race
Get wild! - All you nasty girls and boys
If you wanna get wild, say yeah (Yeah!) - Make some noise!
When you want 2 get in the groove
But the music don't make you move
Hip the DJ 2 a new CD
Anything by the N.P.G.
Come on, baby (Aw shucks!), where the good times never die
Come on, baby (Aw shucks!), where the damsels good and fly
Come on, baby, you can shake your funky monkey till it cry
Polyvinyl acetate will keep your monkey high
If you wanna get real freaky, now's the time 2 try (Come on y'all)
CHORUS
Get wild! - like you know you need 2
Pick a funky outfit short and see-through
Versace got it going on in the gold mesh
Won't you try it on 2 night when you get dressed?
Get Wild's the only aroma that my nose'll see (Get wild!)
Won't you spray a little where you think I'm gonna be?
And you know, you know what shoes 2 wear
The ones so high you're scared
Ououo, peligro que aqui yo vengo! {Oh oh, danger 4 here I come!}
(Get wild!)
When you can't find the G 2 your GO
Even charged, your battery's low
When the smoke's 2 thick 2 blow
There's a brand new high we know
Come on, baby (Aw shucks!), where the good times never die
Come on, baby (Aw shucks!), where the damsels good and fly
Come on, baby, you can shake your funky monkey till it cry
Polyvinyl acetate will keep your monkey high
If you wanna get real freaky, now's the time 2 try (Come on y'all)
Get wild! - Everybody up in the place, yes
Get wild! - It don't matter what sex or race
Get wild! - All you nasty girls and boys (Get wild!)
If you wanna get wild, say yeah (Yeah!) - Make some noise!
Get wild! (Shake it!)
Shake your money maker
Get wild! (Shake it!)
Shake your money maker
Get wild! (Shake it!) (Shake it!)
Shake your money maker
Get wild!
(Get, get ...)
Come on, get wild!
The New Power Generation's song "Get Wild" is all about breaking free from the monotony of daily life and embracing the wild side. The lyrics encourage listeners to let loose and have fun. The song starts by addressing the common feeling of being sick of the 9 to 5 routine and searching for something that makes one feel alive. The lyrics suggest finding a place where the good times never die and the damsels are good and fly. The chorus beckons everyone to get wild together, regardless of their sex or race, and make some noise.
The lyrics mention the use of polyvinyl acetate to keep one's monkey high. This is a type of glue that can have hallucinogenic effects if inhaled. The lyrics also refer to wearing short and see-through outfits by Versace and high heels that make one scared. The song encourages the use of the fragrance "Get Wild" and suggests spraying it where the singer might be. The lyrics also mention a new high that one can experience when the traditional methods of finding enjoyment fail.
Overall, "Get Wild" is an overtly sexual song about breaking free from societal norms and embracing the wild side. It encourages listeners to have fun and let loose, and the lyrics provide suggestions to enhance the experience.
