quiet chords from my guitar
floating on the silence that surrounds us
Quiet thoughts and quiet dreams
Quiet walks by quiet streams
and a window that looks out on Corcovado
Oh, how lovely

that cut at 0:31 drives me nuts! and it's on every streaming version I've heard. Has Verve Records completely lost the beginning of Stan Getz's solo?! If so, that would be a shame because this record is a real treasure & so incredibly beautiful. Reminds me of the best memories of my childhood home. Hope the full version replaces all the abridged versions soon so I can share it with my kids some day without cringing, hA! Thanks for considering, @verve . Lots of love

They just wiped João Gilberto from the song, it's infuriating

That's the edited version originally released as a single in 1964.

@Arnaldo DeSouteiro Thanks! That would make sense as a shorter radio edit, but are you 100% sure about that? If so, how do you know? Do you have that original single? Thanks for chiming in. (not that I substantiated my hypothesis earlier, Lol). but folx may want to know.

Spotify version is a little bit different atm

It's okay. Stan Getz was a horrible person who abused and exploited Astrud and even her husband Joao was a Cheater so their exclusion makes this song more pure.
Atleast Astrud is in heaven.
