Run Baby Run
The Newbeats Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Run, run baby run
Run baby run
Run baby run
Run baby run (oh come back to me)
Run baby run (bring your kisses to me)
Run baby run
Back into my arms
Run baby run (I need you baby)
Run baby run (I don't mean maybe)
Run baby run
Back into my arms
And even though you hurt me
I still love you
It's true
Even though I know that you will hurt me again
I will love you
As I did then so
Run baby run (if you love me)
Run baby run (I still want you only)
Run baby run
Back into my arms
Run, run baby run
Run baby run
Run baby run
Back into my arms
I'm not the kind of guy to ever hurt you or let you down
So if that guy you're seeing ever lets you down, leave him
Tell him goodbye and
Run baby run (oh hurry baby)
Run baby run (I'll be waiting for you) run baby run
Back into my arms
Run, run baby run (comon comon baby)
Run baby run (I'm waiting for you)

Run baby run (bring your kisses to me)
Run baby run....

Overall Meaning

The Newbeats' song Run Baby Run seems to be about a man who is urging his love interest to come back to him. The first verse has him telling her to run back into his arms and bring her kisses to him. He doesn't want her to leave and wants her to come back to him as soon as possible. He knows that she's hurt him in the past, but he still loves her and wants her to come back.

The second verse has the man reassuring the woman that he would never hurt her or let her down like the guy she is currently seeing. He encourages her to leave the other guy if he ever hurts her and tells her that he'll be waiting for her with open arms. He again tells her to run back into his arms.

The chorus is a repetition of the phrase "Run baby run" with variations that emphasize his desire for her to come back to him. The lyrics reveal the emotional intensity of the man's love for the woman and his need for her to return to him despite the pain she has caused him.
