Another Planet
The Notwist Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Planet cause you are you stare
And kiss me from above, don't
You? Say why. You need no
Reason to deny. Say why you
Kiss me from above. In dreams
Your fiends are sleeping. In
Dreams their hands are falling
You. To show you things from
Their buildings up above.
The Notwist's song Another Planet is a dreamy, ethereal track that seems to explore the mystical and enigmatic nature of human connection. The lyrics depict a transcendent experience with someone who feels otherworldly, like they come from another planet.
The opening line, "You are another planet cause you are you stare," suggests that the person being sung to has a captivating and mesmerizing presence that is not of this world. This is further emphasized by the line "And kiss me from above," which creates the image of an angelic being descending from the heavens to bestow a kiss.
The chorus of the song is especially intriguing, as it seems to defy logical explanation. The lyrics ask "Don't You? Say why," and "you need no reason to deny." This implies that the relationship and connection between the two individuals goes beyond rational thought or explanation. The phrase "In dreams your fiends are sleeping" conjures up ideas of a world beyond our own, where the boundaries of reality and imagination blur.
The final lines of the song, "To show you things from their buildings up above," suggest a yearning for a higher, more elevated perspective. Overall, Another Planet is a song that explores the mystery and magic of human connection, and the possibility of transcending the confines of our mundane world.
