In 2003 the band started their own record label Alien Transistor and released a soundtrack for the movie Lichter by Hans-Christian Schmid. On September, 6th 2004 the EP Solo Swim came out, a collaboration between The Notwist, Console and Klimek, which is also the soundtrack for the documentary Kanalschwimmer by Jörg Adolph. Both EPs are only available on vinyl as is the latest EP by Rayon (Markus Acher), released in spring 2006.

The Notwist Lyrics

hand over mouth
this is the dream I bought
The Notwist's song "From One Wrong Place To The Next" is a reflective track that deals with a sense of detachment and confusion that comes with the ever-changing directions in life. The opening line, "From one wrong place to the next," suggests that the singer can't seem to find their footing in life and is constantly navigating unfamiliar terrain. The line "Hand over mouth" implies that there may be feelings of wanting to scream or speak out but feeling stifled and unable to do so. This creates a sense of claustrophobia and entrapment that further adds to the theme of detachment.
The line "This is the dream I bought" is a poignant statement that signifies the singer's resignation to their current situation. They realize that this is not the life they envisioned or wished for, yet they continue to navigate through their struggles because they have invested so much of themselves into this idea of success. This lyric suggests that sometimes we make choices that don't align with our true nature, but we go along with them anyway because they seem like the right thing to do at the time. Overall, "From One Wrong Place To The Next" is a thought-provoking exploration of the complexities of life and the choices we make that lead us astray.
