Story Untold
The Nutmegs Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Well here in my heart there's a story untold
Of a girl who left me standing standing in the cold
And since she's been away
I've never had a happy day
I hope and I pray that she'll hear my plea
And maybe someday she'll come back to me
For here in my heart there's a story untold
But after all you've said and done you said we'd be as one
But darling
I found I was wrong
But what did you do right from the start
You made of fool of me and then you broke my heart
Well I hope and I pray that she'll hear my plea

And maybe someday she'll come back to me
For here in my heart there's a story untold a story story untold

Overall Meaning

The Nutmegs's song "Story Untold" is a heartrending tale of lost love and longing. The lyrics paint a poignant picture of a man left standing in the cold, his heart full of sadness and regret. He sings of a girl who has left him, and since she left, he has never had a happy day. He hopes and prays that she'll hear his plea and come back to him someday.

However, the story takes a dramatic turn when the man realizes that the girl he loved had never been true to him. She had made a fool of him and then broken his heart. In the end, he is left alone and empty, holding onto the hope that the girl who broke his heart may come back to him someday.

Why isn't this group in The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame? TELL ME. I'm a retired College Professor. I have been listening to Vocal Group Harmony since 1953, They deserve to be there. May all The Nutmegs RIP.

@cozycool3505

Rockin' Bill - in sure if they were blonde with blue eyes they'd been there 25 years ago along with about 25 other vocal groups just like them that were prob a little better !

@ellenpearljackson5219

I agree with you

@Jimfromerth

There are so many great groups. Their wouldn’t
be enough room for all of them.
The cadillacs, coasters,moonglows,shirells, vandellas, supremes,
Orioles, drifters,crests, harptones,teenagers, cleftones,the 5 satins,
The ronetts, the delvikings, the chantels, the sky liners, the heartbeats.
I could go on. But you get the idea.

These fabulous gentlemen were my uncles . The late great Leroy griffin , sonny griffin , and sonny Washburn. I was two when my uncle Leroy was killed , so I never got to meet him , but I heard a lot of great stories . Long Live The Nutmegs
