No Way Out
The Oak Ridge Boys Lyrics

Monday morning, 6a.M.
Gonna be a hot one again
Put some coffee in my cup
Got my Chevy and I saddled up

And I roll, roll, roll, roll
Got another hundred miles to go
And I roll, roll, roll, roll, roll, roll

I can taste your kisses, see your face
And the faster I go the longer it takes
Well, this lonely heart is a heavy load
And it's slowing me down and there
Ain't no short way home

Make a stop for some gasoline
Ain't got time to wash the windows clean
Burning highway, burning tires
Burning oil, and burning desire

And I roll, roll, roll, roll
Got another hundred miles to go
And I roll, roll, roll, roll, roll, roll

I can taste your kisses, see your face
And the faster I go the longer it takes
Well, this lonely heart is a heavy load
And it's slowing me down and there
Ain't no short way home

And I roll, roll, roll, roll
Got another hundred miles to go
And I roll, roll, roll, roll, roll, roll

I can taste your kisses, see your face
And the faster I go the longer it takes
Well, this lonely heart is a heavy load
And it's slowing me down and there
Ain't no short way home

I can taste your kisses, see your face
And the faster I go the longer it takes
Well, this lonely heart is a heavy load
And it's slowing me down and there
Ain't no short way

Taste your kisses, see your face
And the faster I go the longer it takes
Well, this lonely heart is a heavy load
And it's slowing me down and there
Ain't no short way

Taste your kisses, see your face
And the faster I go

Overall Meaning

the longer it takes refers to the idea that the singer is driving long distances in order to see their loved one. They are on their way to see their significant other, and the journey is made tougher by the fact that they are driving alone. The repetition of the line "And I roll, roll, roll" serves to emphasize just how lengthy and tiring the drive is. The lyrics make it clear that the singer is going through a lot of effort to see their loved one, and that they are willing to endure a lot in order to do so.

The lyrics also reflect a sense of loneliness and longing. The singer's "lonely heart" is a heavy load, and they are clearly missing their significant other. The line "I can taste your kisses, see your face" further emphasizes the idea that the singer is deeply in love with the person they are driving to see. The long and difficult drive, combined with the sense of loneliness and longing, help to create a sense of urgency and intensity in the song.

Overall, "No Way Out" is a song about the lengths we will go to in order to be with the ones we love. It is about the challenges we face on the road to love, and the sacrifices we make in order to be with the person who holds our heart.

on King Jesus

There are rumors that this was created in a recording studio. I think it's possible, but I can remember buying the album in 1974 just to listen to the live version of King Jesus. I still have the album after 50 years. Ahh, you're in store for a great singin' tonight. . . is a precious memory I have of that album.
