Along with fellow California punk bands Green Day and Rancid, The Offspring have been credited with reviving mainstream interest in punk rock in the United States during the mid-1990s. To date, The Offspring has released eight studio albums, one compilation, four EPs and three DVDs. They have sold over 34 million albums worldwide, making them one of the best-selling punk rock acts of all time. Each album since the release of their 1994 album Smash has sold over a million units.
Since the release of Smash, which is the best-selling independent label album of all time, The Offspring has achieved commercial success over five albums, with singles such as "Come Out and Play", and "Self Esteem". The band’s next three albums, Ixnay on the Hombre, Americana and Conspiracy of One, were also successful, with Ixnay on the Hombre and Conspiracy of One reaching platinum certification, and Americana achieving multi-platinum status. Longtime drummer Ron Welty left The Offspring in early 2003, and was replaced by Atom Willard. Later that year, the band released their next album, Splinter, to moderate sales and fairly warm reviews. In 2005, The Offspring released a greatest hits album and toured in support of the compilation. Their eighth studio album, Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace, was released on June 17, 2008 with the hit singles "You’re Gonna Go Far, Kid" and "Hammerhead."
Days Go By is the band’s ninth studio album and is due to be released on June 26, 2012. The Days Go By Songfacts reports that the title track was released as the first single and was premiered on KROQ on April 27, 2012.
2. Offspring was a short-lived English pop duo of the early 1970s, consisting of Mike Brayn and John Howard, who met at Hurstpierpoint College in Sussex, United Kingdom. They released just one single, 'Windfall' (1972). Their planned studio album was never completed.
One Fine Day

I would have it start this way
Open up the fridge and have a tall boy
Yeah
Then I'd meet up with my friends
Head out to the game again
We don't even really care who wins (hey) wins (hey) 1, 2, 3
Now excitement seems to grow
When we're hangin' with the bro's
When we're chillin' and we pound
A case of stroh's
Now the game is cool to see
You can high five on TV
Count the riot on the 1, 2, 3
Operation is in sight
And the field is open wide
When you break it then you know you're still alive
If the cops don't make you pay
And you make your getaway
Then you know
That's one fine day
On that day before we're through
We could torch a car or two
Then have ourselves another tall boy
Yeah
Water hoses and batons
That's the real game that's on
I don't really give a shit who wins (hey) wins (hey) 1, 2, 3
Now excitement seems to grow
When we're hangin' with the bro's
When we're chillin' and we pound
A case of stroh's
Now the game is cool to see
You can high five on TV
Count the riot on the 1, 2, 3
Operation is in sight
And the field is open wide
When you break it then you know you're still alive
If the cops don't make you pay
And you make your getaway
Then you know
That's one fine day
I believe it's my God-given right
To destroy everything in my sight
'cause it never gets dull
It never gets old (whoa-oh)
The only thing it gets is more bold (whoa-oh-oh)
Drinkin', fightin', going to the game (whoa-oh)
In our world it's a way to stay sane (whoa-oh-oh)
If you're asking me (whoa-oh-oh-oh)
To have it my way (whoa-oh)
I'd say that's one fine day
Now excitement seems to grow
When we're hangin' with the bro's
When we're chillin' and we pound
A case of stroh's
Now the game is cool to see
You can high five on TV
Count the riot on the 1, 2, 3
Operation is in sight
And the field is open wide
When you break it then you know you're still alive
If the cops don't make you pay
And you make your getaway
Then you know
That's one fine day
Then you know that it's one fine day
(Hey! Hey! Hey, hey, hey, hey)
The Offspring's song "One Fine Day" is a sarcastic take on the idea of having a perfect day. The lyrics are about a group of friends drinking beer, watching a sports game, setting things on fire, and getting into trouble with the police. The opening lines set the tone for the rest of the song as the singer wants his perfect day to start with a tall boy from the fridge. The chorus repeats the idea that hanging out with friends and causing trouble is the perfect way to spend a day. The line "I believe it's my God-given right, to destroy everything in my sight" is an ironic commentary on the mindset of some people who feel entitled to do whatever they want regardless of who it hurts.
The verse about setting a car on fire and the mention of water hoses and batons implies that the singer and his friends are involved in rioting. While the chorus mentions high-fiving on TV, the line "count the riot on the 1,2,3" suggests that the singer's perfect day involves violence and chaos. The bridge "Drinkin', fightin', going to the game, in our world it's a way to stay sane" is a nod to the idea that some people see these activities as an escape from the pressures of daily life. However, by the end of the song, the irony of the situation is revealed when the singer states that "the only thing (it) gets is more bold". The song suggests that seeking thrills and causing trouble may be fun in the moment but ultimately leads to more trouble in the future.
