Along with fellow California punk bands Green Day and Rancid, The Offspring have been credited with reviving mainstream interest in punk rock in the United States during the mid-1990s. To date, The Offspring has released eight studio albums, one compilation, four EPs and three DVDs. They have sold over 34 million albums worldwide, making them one of the best-selling punk rock acts of all time. Each album since the release of their 1994 album Smash has sold over a million units.
Since the release of Smash, which is the best-selling independent label album of all time, The Offspring has achieved commercial success over five albums, with singles such as "Come Out and Play", and "Self Esteem". The band’s next three albums, Ixnay on the Hombre, Americana and Conspiracy of One, were also successful, with Ixnay on the Hombre and Conspiracy of One reaching platinum certification, and Americana achieving multi-platinum status. Longtime drummer Ron Welty left The Offspring in early 2003, and was replaced by Atom Willard. Later that year, the band released their next album, Splinter, to moderate sales and fairly warm reviews. In 2005, The Offspring released a greatest hits album and toured in support of the compilation. Their eighth studio album, Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace, was released on June 17, 2008 with the hit singles "You’re Gonna Go Far, Kid" and "Hammerhead."
Days Go By is the band’s ninth studio album and is due to be released on June 26, 2012. The Days Go By Songfacts reports that the title track was released as the first single and was premiered on KROQ on April 27, 2012.
2. Offspring was a short-lived English pop duo of the early 1970s, consisting of Mike Brayn and John Howard, who met at Hurstpierpoint College in Sussex, United Kingdom. They released just one single, 'Windfall' (1972). Their planned studio album was never completed.

Until the break of dawn, life, life
Cannot go by the letter, time, time
Prozac can make it better, noise, noise
Any kind will do
Can you feel it slip away when it's all on you? (Hey, hey)
Crime, crime
Eighteen and life in Chino, Freud, Freud
All along it's true
Well, you'll see there comes a day catches up to you, yeah
Knock down the walls (it's alive in you)
Knock down the place (you're alone, it's true)
Knock down the walls (it's alive in you)
You gotta keep your head up through it all
You're gonna bust out on it (original prankster)
Break out, yeah (original, yeah)
Bust out on it (original prankster)
You never stop now, stop now
That's what the main man say
You can do it
You know it smells like shit, Goddamn
Tag Team the Double Header
Son of Sam, fire always makes it better
Navigate with style and aplomb
'Cause wherever you're at, that's the tip youse on (hey, hey)
Lies, lies
Says he's down in the Bahamas, tries, tries
Bangin' little hoochie mamas, no way
None of this is true
Well, you'll see there comes a day when the joke's on you, yeah
Knock down the walls (it's alive in you)
Knock down the place (you're alone, it's true)
Knock down the walls (it's alive in you)
You gotta keep your head up through it all
You're gonna bust out on it (original prankster)
Break out, yeah (original, yeah)
Bust out on it (original prankster)
You never stop now, stop now
That's what the main man say
(Hey) You can do it
Dime, dime, so good to see ya
Nine, nine, don't wanna be ya
Dime, dime, so good to see ya
Nine, nine, don't wanna be ya
Crime, crime, fine sensimilla
Crime, crime, fine sensimilla
Crime, crime, fine sensimilla
Well, you'll see there comes a day catches up to you, yeah
Knock down the walls (it's alive in you)
Knock down the place (you're alone, it's true)

"Original Prankster" by The Offspring is a high-energy song that features a mix of punk rock and rap. The lyrics present a rebellious and carefree attitude towards life, where the singer encourages the listener to break free from societal norms and expectations. The first verse talks about different elements of life, such as time and noise, and how they can affect one's mental wellbeing. The singer suggests that Prozac can make it better but also adds that it's all up to the individual to take control of their life.
The second verse references notorious criminals, such as Janet Reno and Son of Sam, and how fire can make everything better. The chorus encourages the listener to "knock down the walls" and break free from any constraints holding them back. The bridge repeats different variations of "time" and "crime" and introduces "sensamilla," a type of marijuana. The song ends on a high note with the repeated chant of "original prankster," which emphasizes the message of individuality.
