Prologue
The Orchestra Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Just on the border of your waking mind
There lies another time
Where darkness and light are one
And as you tread the halls of sanity
You feel so glad to be unable to go beyond

I have a message from another time

Overall Meaning

The Prologue to The Orchestra's song is a poignant narrative about the power of dreams and the importance of pursuing them before it is too late. The singer begins by observing how some people dream of the wonders they will accomplish in life before their time on earth runs out, while others do not have anything planned and choose to ignore their aspirations, fearing failure. The singer highlights a crucial point at this juncture, stating that they do not intend to judge who is better or worse, but instead implores the listener to take advantage of the opportunity they have in that moment to hear the tale of a dreamer, which could be them.

The song's message is simple yet powerful: we all have dreams, but some of us let them slip away while others work hard to make them a reality. Dreams and aspirations are a central theme throughout the song. The singer highlights this by saying that if we can dream it, want it, and think it, it is real. The song goes further to explain that our dreams come true, and we become what we feel, ultimately showing that nothing is impossible once we put our minds to it.

In conclusion, the Prologue is a call to action, urging listeners to pursue their dreams relentlessly before it's too late, rather than sitting idly and hoping for their dreams to magically materialize. It stresses that everyone has the potential to achieve anything they want, so long as they put in the effort and remain committed.

Time was one of the first albums that I bought as a kid in the 1980s. The organs in Prologue create a feeling that something momentous is about to happen. The distorted voice -- Richard Tandy's, I believe, evokes memories of the Cylons from Battlestar Galactica.

I love cranking the subwoofer on this one for when the part at 0:26 kicks in. This is one of those pieces that's really good at high volume.

@desoxido

This is Pachelbel - Canon In D Major.
