let me in
The Osmonds Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Wrote my whole life down in an old book,
Songs about you and me.
Been singing to every soul in Tennessee.
Nobody seems to listen,
No one ever smiles the way that you do.
So I guess you never hear me on the radio,
And I'd give up this crazy dream of mine to hold you once more.
Won't you meet me in Montana.
I want to see the mountains in your eyes.
Woah, woah, I had all of this life I can handle.
Meet me underneath that big Montana sky.

I left home for Hollywood.
Lookin' for a part to play.
Well you always said I had such a pretty face.
But, I guess I'm not that pretty,
'Cause no one looks at me the way you do.
Well you'll always be a movie star to me.
Darlin' now I guess it's time that I let go of that dream.

Won't you meet me in Montana
I want to see the mountains your eyes.
Woah, Woah I had all of this life I can handle
Meet me underneath that big Montana sky.

Well were stuck here in these hills that they call mountains.
Darlin' back home in your arms is right where I want to be.
Won't you meet me in Montana
I want to see the mountains your eyes.
Woah, Woah I had all of this life I can handle
Meet me underneath that big Montana sky.

In Montana.
I want to see the mountains in your eyes.

Woah, woah, I had all of this life that I can handle.
Meet me underneath that big Montana sky.

Overall Meaning

The song "Let Me In" by The Osmonds is a beautiful tribute to a lost love from the perspective of a struggling musician. The singer reminisces about writing songs about their love and singing them to every soul in Tennessee, but nobody ever listens or smiles like the way their lover did. They feel unheard, unappreciated, and dissatisfied with their life in Hollywood, where they went looking for a part to play. The lover, on the other hand, remains a shining star in their eyes, always beautiful and unattainable.

The song is evocative in its descriptions of the beautiful mountains of Montana and the desires of the singer to be reunited with their lover in that majestic place. The mountains are a metaphor for the lover's eyes, and the reunion is a chance to reconcile with what was lost, to reconcile with the loneliness and heartbreak, and to begin a new chapter.

The song's message is one of loss and regret, but also one of hope and redemption. It speaks to the longing we all feel to connect with someone special and to the places that make us feel at home. It is a poignant reminder that sometimes what we need most in life is not fame or fortune, but the simple pleasure of being with those who love us.

welcome to the wonderful world of the osmonds.
this is one of their best, imo, but they have a lot of terrific songs. check out 'let me in' for another favourite of mine.

i've loved them since the early seventies, and loved them during their {too long} period of not being cool. now as a middle aged man it's ok to admit i love them still, even if it is or isn't cool. i don't even know if they've moved into being cool. at my age, it doesn't matter anymore.

at this stage of my game it's all about love and joy, and making the most of what this beautiful life has to offer. and this family have been the epitome of that. in their industry which is filled with utter garbage and over sexed everything, they've always shared their light of love and purity.

they sound beautiful. harmonies to bring this world joy.
how much better a legacy could anyone leave?

love and peace to you and all,
xxxxxxx

@frankpaul3479

we have been truly blessed for having this amazing family sing for us.

such a clean, good, wholesome family, in a world that so needs that. and such a pleasant departure for that industry.

what a joy they've brought to us.
how much greater a legacy could one have?

love and peace to you and all,
xxxxxxx
