Movin
The Other Two Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

We put the bags in the car and we felt much better
She wants to drive but I wouldn't let her

You've got to take what you need, you've got to get right
Stop for a while in the morning light

She took a photograph, he never knew
It's getting harder, they could drive right through

And we saw the sun up in the sky
We talked about it and we wondered why
You think I'm weak but I'm getting stronger

He had a problem, another mouth to feed
She's feeling tired now and may start to weep
I used to think that you could love no other
You think I'm crazy but I'm never coming home

Hey hey yeah
And they saw the sun up in the sky
Living's not easy when they say goodbye
These are your hands and these are your choices
Sha starts to cry 'cause you've never going home

Hey hey yeah (X5)
You think I'm Weak but I am stronger
(Hey hey yeah)
You start to fight but I still love you anyway
(Hey hey yeah)
And another mouth is more than enough
(Hey hey yeah X2)

And we're never going home (Hey hey yeah X2)
And we're never going home (Hey hey yeah X2)

Another mouth is more, another mouth is more than enough (X3)

Another mouth is more than enough, another mouth is more
And we saw the sun up in the sky and we saw the sun (X8)

Overall Meaning

The song "Movin' On" by The Other Two tells the story of a couple who are leaving their current situation behind and moving on. It could be interpreted as a relationship that has run its course or perhaps a metaphor for a bigger life change that the couple is making. The first verse talks about putting the bags in the car and feeling better, but there is a conflict over who should drive. This is followed by a call to "take what you need" and to "stop for a while in the morning light," which could be interpreted as advice for making choices and taking time to reflect before moving on.

The second verse introduces new characters, a "he" and a "she," who are facing a problem with "another mouth to feed." The woman is feeling tired and may start to cry. The singer reflects on past relationships and how they used to think they could only love one person, but now they are "never coming home." The chorus repeats, emphasizing the idea that the couple is moving on and never going back. The song ends with the repetition of the line "another mouth is more than enough," which could be interpreted as a commentary on responsibility and the burdens that come with relationships and life in general.

First, Brenda is not pushy since Kelly did the same thing.

That said, that's the difference between Brenda and Kelly. Brenda had a very strong sense of self. She always did. And I believe Dylan adored that about her. Kelly had no self-esteem whatsoever when it came to Dylan. She thought she needed diet pills, she always questioned her place in his life, she always thought he put brenda first, she was so completely insecure in who she was - that's how I know that pairing was purely plot driven. Nothing else. Then suddenly years gone by and their kismet? Destiny? Based on what? Dylan loved Brenda because Brenda was strong and her own person and didn't take his crap. She wanted him to be the best he could be. But no... let's get rid of Brenda because Tori had a temper tantrum got daddy to dump Shannen and completely regretted it two decades later. What goes around comes around.

Jim was right. Dylan was Brenda's high school boyfriend, but I just can't see him making her happy as they got older and moved into two different directions. I think she missed what they had when season four rolled around, but Dylan regressed in many, many ways and I don't think she'd put up with him romantically in the longterm. And she'd deserve better too, imo.

@diana_prince_1

Agree. Dylan was fundamentally a good guy, but he had a lot of hurts from growing up in a dysfunctional family. He needed to work on himself and heal first before he could grow and mature with Brenda in their relationship.

You can't judge an 18 year kid. Not every kid knows what they want at that age.
Not every kid wants to go or will appreciate college at that age. Some kids take longer to mature and figure things out, especially when they are from dysfunctional families.
It wasn't fair for Jim to always judge Dylan so harshly. He wasn't a bad kid, just spoiled with no family structure.
I think they both had a lot of growing up to do, but Dylan eventually graduated college, and he really was an intellect. I think they would have gotten back together years later, maybe late 20's or 30. They were meant to be together.

@strawberryherpes528

@lnicole2504  I still disagree. I enjoy Dylan as a character, but I'm not just speaking about his seeming lack of ambition for this one episode. I have watched the series in its entirety several times and I know what roads Dylan takes. I believe Brenda would have offered him friendship through it all, but I don't think a relationship with him would have been the healthiest thing for either of them. Dylan just kind of stopped growing after awhile, regressed, and was repeatedly self-destructive, and wasn't even that remorseful about it when his actions hurt other people. And while I love Dylan as a character, because he can really be a good man underneath all of that, Brenda deserved someone who was more routed on solid ground.

@gomerhanger2285

Dylan was an October Libra ♎️.. so go figure.

@kristinazubic9669

See, in this instance Jimbo actually has a point.

@RBS_

...Brenda seems to be a tad pushy, trying to get her Dad to 'talk' to Dylan about College (0:11)....when she JUST fighting with him the previous Summer, about wanting to SEE him! ...Jim is somewhat right about Dylan's 'ambitions'(0:56), but Dylan is ALWAYS gonna do what he wants to do....unlike Steve, who's told WHAT to do....(1:48).....

@trinaq

I was always Team Brenda, I wish that Dylan had chosen her over Kelly, since they had more chemistry, in my opinion.

@liljay216

I was pissed when Shannon left the show due to behind the scenes drama. However I thought Prue was a better complex character for Shannen to portray. So I'm glad Brenda and Dylan were over. We wouldn't have Pure Halliewell
