<… Read Full Bio ↴There are several artists named The Outsiders (16 are mentioned here):
(1) The Outsiders (theoutsiders.eu) were a sixties beat band from Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Formed in 1960 as a neighbourhood band from Amsterdam East, The Outsiders became one of the most succesful Dutch groups of the 1960s. They made some lastingly great records and never recorded anyone else's material, with singer Wally Tax writing the lyrics and guitarist Ron Splinter the music for nearly all of the twelve 45s and three LPs they made. Other band members included Appie Rammers on bass, Leendert Busch on drums, Ron Splinter on guitar and Tom Krabbendam also on guitar. They are the subject of an official biography written by Jerome Blanes. For more information see the author's website.
(2) The Outsiders is a producer/DJ duo, based in Leiden, The Netherlands, that produces a large variety of sounds and subgenres within Drum & Bass music. The two young friends Jozef van der Veen (also known as Ecepta) and Roeland van Rijnberk (also known as Sorza) have already received support from people like Noisia, NCT, Fre4knc, Monty, SKS, DAYLE and more, with recent releases on Noisia’s labels Division Recordings and Invisible Recordings, as well as SKS’s label Vandal Records. The Outsiders met at school and they have been sharing track ideas with each other since 2013, often resulting in one of them trying to outdo the other. But after three years, the two decided to use each other’s creativity, by making Drum & Bass music together as a duo, which is showing some great results so far. Their music varies from experimental, sound design heavy halftime, to deep, minimal rollers and hard hitting neurofunk.
(3) A US band from Ohio. They started in 1959 as Tom King And The Starfires. After the arrival of the Beatles they changed their sound and changed their name to The Outsiders. Signing to Capitol at the beginning of 1966 their first single Time Won't Let Me was a Number 5 pop hit. They scored 3 more Top Thirty hits that year. Singer Sonny Geraci was later in the band Climax.
(4) American Skinhead band - "The details are a blur... the band started around 1997, I (Duck) was writing a lot of music that wasn't fitting in with the band Squiggy I was playing with. My friend at the time was learning drums so it seemed like a perfect combination. I can work out some of these songs I'm writing and she can practice playing the drums. Who knew it would progress. Luckily my buddy Pat who sang for some other local bands Anotherence and The Sick Boys (who I played in to so I knew he would be perfect) was in-between bands and was interested in what we were doing and then THAT cemented our sound and our dedication to making this an actual band."

yo no puedo meterme con
las muñecas de su cabeza
si hablo fuerte me condenan
si la toco me apresan
ella se cree toda una princesa
Hubiera deseado conocerla
en otro momento
pero no lo lamento
No estoy enamorado de ella
es una niña bella
Se nos cruza una piel entre los dos
desarrolla mas rapido
ella me lo pide
yo solo soy una cavernicula
Y a mi no me importa
cada cual por su lado
donde pueda llorar y yo gritar
los hombres y la mujeres no piensan del mismo modo
no da mas ni yo tampoco
entonces no digan que yo soy
ese hombre mal agradecido
uno es como es
pero si ella es una niña
yo no puedo meterme
con las muñecas de su cabeza
si hablo fuerte me condenan
si la toco me apresan
ella se cree toda una princes
pero a mi no me importa
cada cual por su lado donde
pueda llorar y yo gritar
los hombres y las mujeres
no piensan del mismo modo
no amas y yo tampoco
entonces no digan que yo soy
ese hombre mal agradecido
uno es como es
uno mas uno es tres
The lyrics of The Outsider's song "Bird in a Cage" speak about a complicated relationship between the singer and a younger girl. The singer is aware of the societal norms and restrictions that come with pursuing a relationship with a younger person. In the song, he is conflicted between his desire for her and his moral responsibility towards her. He recognizes her as a beautiful girl, but he also understands that they are at different stages of life. Despite their differences, they share a connection that is alluring to both of them, but they are also aware of the consequences of taking it further.
The use of metaphors like "las muñecas de su cabeza" (the dolls in her head) and "ella se cree toda una princesa" (she thinks she's a princess) illustrates that the girl is still in the process of growing up, and the singer is trying to navigate a relationship with someone who has not yet matured. The line "y a mi no me importa cada cual por su lado donde pueda llorar y yo gritar" (and I don't care about being on our own where you can cry and I can scream) sums up their dilemma of being at different stages of life and craving different things.
Overall, the song talks about the complexities of relationships, societal expectations, and the struggles people face when trying to overcome those expectations. At its core, the song is about the constant push and pull of desires and responsibilities.
