The Owls Lyrics

No fun, no muss, no city, no state
No card, no kid, no call, no kiss
No book, no bread, no hit, no miss
No tears, no laugh, no love, no sin
No hand to put my handshake in
No header, no footer, no girl, no boy
The lyrics of The Owls's song "Air" explores the concept of nothingness and the absence of certain elements in one's life. The opening lines of "No head, no heart, no hurry, no hate" imply a void, a lack of direction and purpose, and a total absence of intense feelings. It speaks of a person living without any passion or drive, without any particular intention or motive. The phrase "No fun, no muss, no city, no state" may suggest that the singer is not interested in living a life filled with activities or excitement, but rather living a secluded, simplistic life without any strong ties to a place or community. The following line "No card, no kid, no call, no kiss" speaks to the lack of the intimate and personal relationships that a person might have in their life. The mention of no tears, no laugh, no love, no sin shows that the person seems to be living with a hollow heart or a heart that is devoid of any emotions or experiences - whether good or bad.
As the song progresses, the lyrics delve into the absence of other aspects of life, including material possessions ("No book, no bread, no hit, no miss"). The phrase "No hand to put my handshake in" refers to the absence of trustworthy people in one's life, or the lack of a personal connection with someone that a handshake suggests. The lines "No header, no footer, no girl, no boy, no good, no better, no touch, no toy" speaks to the lack of a sense of identity, gender, and status, which can be found in relationships and society.
Overall, the song Air can be interpreted as a portrayal of an empty existence, where a person has no meaningful connections or sense of purpose. It questions whether such a life is worth living or whether it is an existence to be overcome.
