Don
The Paladins Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Some people suffer all their lives never really happy
No matter what they try
I think we're lucky with what we got
It doesn't take much money to have what we got

And I don't believe we're fooling around
I don't believe you're putting me down
I don't believe you mess up our lives
By telling each other lies

This life we're living
It ain't so bad
We never really fight
We just get a little mad
And all these problems
Ain't rough they say
The tough get going
When the going get tough

And I don't believe we're fooling around
I don't believe you're putting me down
I don't believe you mess up our lives
By telling each other lies

I konw you love me
I love you too
There's nothing in this world
I wouldn't do for you
Let's stay together
Through thick and thin

And I don't believe we're fooling around
I don't believe you're putting me down

I don't believe you mess up our lives
By telling each other lies

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to The Paladins' song "I Don't Believe" express gratitude for the simple things in life, and refute the idea that happiness comes from worldly possessions or a particular social status. The singer acknowledges that some people suffer their whole lives despite their efforts to find contentment, whereas the singer feels that they are fortunate to have what they have. The singer believes that they are not deceiving each other, nor are they trying to tear the other down, and rejects the notion that lying to each other could ruin their relationship.

The song suggests that life isn't always easy, but it's not as bad as it seems either. Although there may be some disagreements or conflicts, they aren't insurmountable, and it's possible to work through things together. The singer also looks at love as an essential factor in their life, and states that there's nothing they wouldn't do for their partner. They want to hold on to each other for better or worse, through any rough patches or temporary hardships.

Overall, the song's message is one of appreciation, honesty, and steadfastness in a relationship, renouncing the idea that material possessions or societal status should be looked upon as a defining factor of happiness.

Paladin is really good, you get a lot of abilities that leave a bit to be desired, but you're still getting a lot of functional features
- Lay on hands is one of the most powerful heals in the game and essentially a better second wind. No dice rolls, you just heal as much as you want or cure conditions
- Paladin spells aren't even necessary, but they give a lot of utility, like detect magic, find steed, shield and zone of truth
- You get proficiency in all the gear because why not
- Immunity to some dangerous status effects in an area AND immunity to diseases (if you DM tends to ignore this then speak up, cuz it's not ok to just invalidate a feature like that, for that they should just tell you they don't run the feature ahead of time)
- A d10 hit dice because yes
- Fighting styles
- And free damage in the form of smites, because they tought the amount of features also needed the ability to deal disgusting hits that ignore most resistances

Sure you have to abide by a tenant, but as a warlock you need to make a pact with an otherwordly being, clerics have to follow their god's alignment, sorcerers need some special background and wizards need to have a certain amount of studies. I like to think of tenets as a balance point for Paladins

@thod_2306

-Lay on hands is the most versatile heal in the game
-Divine sense is great if you’re looking for basically anything
-The spells are mainly support, not damage
-Smites are great
-AC and HP are great
-Fighting style was completely ignored
-You don’t really need to focus Con like the video showed
-The channel divinities are mainly great
-The auras are HUGE
-Frightened can be absolutely crippling
-Wdym “your DM isn’t experienced enough to run enemy spellcasters” but then they are experienced enough to run Tiamat????
-Smites hit Tiamat
-Not reaching the powerful level-20 abilities is by no means paladin-exclusive

I would just like to note that since divine smite is an ability not a spell, you can still smite Tiamat to your heart’s content.

@warlockfangirl

You can divine smite and eldritch smite on the same attack, in addition to a smite spell. An Important Addition

@SeismicHammer

Also while raging

@respectfulevil9022

You can also smite while raging

@sirnonsense5033

Not to mention that radiant damage almost counters/works on everything in the monster manual.

@killskill9391

@Sir Nonsense And in addition smite is even more effective against certain monster like Undead (so you're a Lich-Killer) and Fiends (oh: look wich random, very powerfull monster falls exactly in this category).

I hate to be that guy but divine smite is technically not a spell so it will still work against limited magic immunity.

@Dani-ew8fc

Divine smite op. Any nova build worth it's salt will bring it

@joaosoares-rr5mj

i dont hate it, i want to be that guy, he also taught that if you had your charisma below 10 you couldnt use divine sense, but you can kus it has a minimum of 1

@Spiceodog

@Daniel Monroe just with regular casters though, it’s best spells are concentration, so make sure you got enough bless slots before you go blasting
