Inspired by 60's music such as Love, Burt Bacharach and The Beatles they failed to make any commercial headway despite garnering much critical praise for the two albums they released on Virgin, 1984's Pacific Street and 1985's ...From Across The Kitchen Table. Their sole top 50 single was Thank You which reached #48 in 1982.
They split up shortly after with Michael Head forming Shack and Andy Diagram joining James.

You said I'm looking fine, yeah, yeah, yeah
You're not so bad yourself, natural
No love house of mine
You've got Papa's money, I've got time, natural.
Let's take the Eastern Line
I wish you were mine
I've got a feeling I'd get on fine, natural.
Did you see I'm looking for your face ?
But I looked at you and you done me before
................................... it's so natural.
It's not hard to see ....................., natural
Miles and miles of booze and you say :'so so' - I say : 'Mr. Cool', natural
.......................................
Since I've worn extra holes in my shoes, natural
Let's buy this Eastern Line
I've got a feeling I'd get on fine, natural.
Did you see the look on your face ?
But I looked at you and you done me before

The song "Natural" by The Pale Fountains is about a man who is attracted to a woman and is hoping for a chance with her. The lyrics suggest that the woman is well-off, coming from a family with money, while the man might be struggling to make ends meet. The man seems to be infatuated with the woman and wishes that he could be with her, but the woman seems to have done him wrong in the past, which is hinted at in the line "But I looked at you and you done me before...it's so natural."
The lyrics also talk about taking the Eastern Line somewhere and enjoying each other's company. The second verse mentions "Miles and miles of booze" and refers to the woman as "Mr. Cool" which could suggest that she is a heavy drinker or into the party scene. The man in the song seems to be more laid-back and taking things as they come, as he discusses looking for work and wearing extra holes in his shoes, while the woman seems to have everything she needs. However, there seems to be a deep connection between the two - the line "I wish you were mine, I've got a feeling I'd get on fine" suggests that they could be happy together if they give it a chance.
