When a writer's strike interrupted a movie they were filming, Chase Hampton and Tiffini Hale were cast as the new generation of Mouseketeers. On the show, Hampton started a music group with fellow cast members, including Albert Fields. Disney, which had started the Hollywood Records label, signed the group, which now consisted of Hampton, Hale, Fields, Damon Pampolina, and Deedee Magno. As part of the promotion for the band, a name-the-band contest was held. The result was "The Party," which is a backronym for "Positive Attitude Reflecting Today's Youth."
Over the next several years, The Party released four albums; The Party (1990), In the Meantime, in Between Time (1991), Free (1992), and The Party's Over...Thanks for Coming (1994). Their albums were a mix of assembly line songs and pop/rock hits such as "Walkin' in the Rain," "My Generation," and "I Know What Boys Like," given a slick dance treatment for public consumption. However, the venture never really translated into major hit songs or platinum-selling sales.
The group did manage to find the charts with four singles, but only one, a version of Dokken's "In My Dreams," cracked the Top 40 reaching number 34. They were given the compilation treatment with a greatest-hits package released in 1997, but the Party was overshadowed by the future success of other Mouseketeers venturing into the pop music world, including Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears.
The Party has released several singles since reuniting in 2013, including their latest single, "Don't Stop" in April 2020.

A beautiful woman standing to his side.
I walked by and he said, "Hi." I never thought that I would be his type.
He suggested that we should go outside.
He dazzled me with money and his fancy ride.
He said he'd take me away and buy me diamond rings.
Thanks, but no thanks. I got my own thing.
I'm trying to be that woman, the independent lady who depends on no one.
Skee bo skele boe a ma de do. You better watch out 'cause I'm hip to you.
Skee bo skele boe a ma do dang. Thanks, but no thanks. I got my own thing.
He might be blushing but it's hard to tell.
He began to grin as the clock struck twelve.
Standing alone with such a handsome fella.
He might be a prince but I'm no Cinderella.
He's got money, fancy things, quite handsome, coated with fame.
He didn't even think that I'd know his name.
Tried to play me out but I was hip to his game.
Skee bo skele boe a ma do dat. The lady's all paws as he tilts his hat.
Skee bo skele boe a ma do ne. I can't believe that he's looking at me.
Skee bo skele boe a ma do no. There's an independent woman.
Got a hold of her own.
Skee bo skele boe a ma do dang. Thanks, but no thanks. I got my own thing.
Ooh yeah, ooh yeah. boom ba doop, yeah.
The Party's song Independent Woman depicts the story of a confident and self-sufficient woman who is hit on by a man with wealth and charm. Despite the man's attempts to win her over with diamond rings, fancy cars, and money, she proudly maintains her independence and refuses to be controlled by anyone. She is being approached by a man with brown eyes and a beautiful woman. He shows off his fancy ride and dazzles her with money, but she is unimpressed and says that she has her own thing. The chorus of the song is all about the woman's independent nature and her refusal to depend on anyone else, which is a strong feminist message that encourages self-reliance and celebrates women's independence.
The song has a catchy beat which makes it a popular dance track. The lyrics are cleverly written and have a retro 90s vibe to them, with the use of phrases like "skee bo skele boe" and "boom ba doop." The song was initially released in 1990 by the American group The Party, and was featured in the Disney Channel original movie 'Adventures in Dinosaur City.' The song gained a new wave of popularity when it was featured on the soundtrack of the 2000 movie 'Charlie's Angels' starring Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu, and Drew Barrymore. The song has since become a feminist anthem, inspiring and empowering young girls and women all over the world to be independent and confident in themselves.
