The Pasadenas didn't belong in the '80s. The band was caught in a time warp; they bounced between '50s doo wop, '60s Motown, and early-'70s funk and R&B. However, they presented these influences when mainstream pop music had become too shallow and over-produced; instead of sounding dated, the group was actually a refreshing change of pace.
The band wasn't given much attention in America, but they were superstars in their native England. Formed by twins David Milliner and Michael Milliner along with Andrew Banfield, Hammish Seelochan, and Aaron Brown, the Pasadenas used to be a dance group called Finesse.
In the late '80s they signed with Columbia Records and became The Pasadenas. Not one member overshadowed the other; each of them wrote lyrics and helped with production and arrangements. While their peers, such as Breathe, Johnny Hates Jazz, and Terence Trent D'Arby, also mined soul records from the past, many of The Pasadenas' songs, such as the Smokey Robinson homage "Enchanted Lady," could've been mistaken for the real thing. The band didn't try to modernize the urban grooves of the '60s and '70s; they simply resurrected the excitement soul music used to bring.
In May 1988, the group released their debut single, "Tribute (Right On)." It peaked in the Top Five of the U.K. charts, one of many hits for The Pasadenas. The band's concerts received rave reviews for their tight musicianship and choreographed dance moves. Their first LP, To Whom It May Concern, appeared in October 1988, selling in excess of one million copies. The group's final album, Yours Sincerely, was released in 1992. The band landed on the U.K. Top 40 charts five times that year, with the single "I'm Doing Fine" selling more than 200,000 copies. In 2002 Cherry Red Records reissued To Whom It May Concern on CD.
The band released the superb album “Phoenix” in 1995 but only in Japan.

The Pasadenas Lyrics

Riding on a train
Think of you again
Your love has got me high
High
High
You know I need you
Baby.
So don't stop what you're doing
Baby
'Cause you do it right
Right
Right
I have missed you so
Don't you know it
Babe
And I can't wait to hold you in my arms
Hey
Hey
I'm riding on this train for you.
Riding on a train
Think of you again
Got myself a ticket
First class one way there
You're my destination valentine
Now the train wheels are turning
Got my heart burning.
Darling
Darling
Darling
Hold me tighter
Please
Oh yeah
Ooh
Ooh
Ooh
Now I see your face shining brightly
I'll never leave you again
'Cause I'm staying home
Oh well
I'm staying home with you
Girl.
Riding on a train
Think of you again
Choo choo train keeps riding
We'll be together
Together
Together
Together.
Choo choo train keeps riding
We'll be together
Together
Together
Together.
Oh
Sitting here on this train
Wondering what I would do without you
Girl
I don't know
I don't know what's going on
Baby.
Riding on a train
Think of you again
Choo choo train keeps riding
Choo choo train keeps riding
The lyrics to The Pasadenas's song Riding On A Train chronicle a man's journey on a train as he thinks about his love. The song starts with the familiar sound of a train in motion and sets the mood for the singer's nostalgic reflection on his love. He expresses how his love for her has lifted him up and kept him high, emphasizing how he needs her in his life.
As the train keeps moving forward, he longs to reunite with his love and holds her tightly. The singer got himself a first-class ticket on this journey as he imagines his love as his destination. He vows to never leave her again and decides to stay home with her. The song ends with the refrain of the "choo-choo train" that keeps riding as they will be together forever.

One of the most criminally underrated groups ever....
Everyone of them could sing, their harmonies were as tight as you could possibly get. Dancing was step by step perfection. Never since been a British boy band as good. Looks doubtful if there ever will be....
