The Cinnamon Cinder
The Pastel Six Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Theres a place out Hollywood way
Where the crowd goes to play
They jump and shout and have a ball
And let me tell you that aint all

They do the CC Cinnamon Cinder..CC Cinnamon Cinder
CC Cinnamon Cinder... Its a very nice dance.
You can do any step you choose
Its a dance of rhythm and blues
Just shake your shoulder and shuffle your feet
And keep in time to that low down beat
And do the CC Cinnamon Cinder..CC Cinnamon Cinder
CC Cinnamon Cinder... Its a very nice dance.

You can dance right out of this world
So hey boy get a girl
And hey girl get a boy
And come on down to that land of joy.

And do the CC Cinnamon Cinder..CC Cinnamon Cinder
CC Cinnamon Cinder... Its a very nice dance.

I lived in Anaheim for 20 years. Longtime listeners to Top 40 KRLA 1110 in Pasadena, knew that popular deejay Bob Eubanks, was the main owner of The Cinnamon Cinder nightclubs. In 1964, Bob was behind getting The Beatles to perform at The Hollywood Bowl. And later, Bob Eubanks hosted The Newlywed Game on ABC.

A popular tune on KRLA's Johnny Hayes show!

I remember a Cinnamon Cinder popping up down the block too. It was by the traffic circle in Long Beach CA. Circa 1962. I was just a kid. But I remember a feeling a kind of pride whenever this song was playing. Be careful though. Once you've heard...you never forget it...cc Cinnamon Cinder...a very nice 🕺 💃 dance...and a very nice 🎵 song.

In October 1961 I recorded a "demo" at Downey Music with the Pastel 6 as backup. Downey Music was Pop Wetzels' record store - studio in Downey, CA. He produced many surf hits in the early 60's out of that small studio.

It was Wenzel's Music town on Lakewood Blvd in Downey. I knew the parents and the Son & Wife from back in 1964. When I walked in the front door (the firstg tome there), it was raining and the song "Remember Walking In The Sand" was playing. Went there for many years, till they closed in the very early 2000's. Nothing left of all the old record places.

@@danawilkes8322 Downey is where The Carpenters lived after moving from New Haven, CT in June 1963. I'll bet Richard-Karen both shopped there!

@danawilkes8322

@@freeguy77 I never thought of the Carpenters going there, since it was on the other side of town. Not the well to do area of Downey.

@freeguy77

@@danawilkes8322 I didn't know the specifics of the layout where the store and their house was, just recognized Downey as their city. Thanks for your information that makes it unlikely the Carpenters went there instead of music shops closer to their section of town.

THIS SONG WENT TO NUMBER 25 ON THE BILLBOARD HOT-100 CHART IN 1963.

Just a great song. Really liked it back when. Kind of exciting to hear it again. I think I reconnected some lost brain cells. Thanks!
