1. The most well-known group is a Swedish indie rock band. The band began in 1997 composed of six members, since 2001 it has consisted of Ola Klüft (vocals, guitar), Martin Gustafson (keyboards, backing vocals), Pehr Åström (bass), and Thomas Hedlund (drums).
Although they have not had a major commercial breakthrough yet, they do have a fanbase that stretches across Europe and North America. They've had several songs appear in episodes of some popular American television programs: Grey's Anatomy, The OC, Veronica Mars, One Tree Hill, 16 and Pregnant, and Greek. Their song Sway also plays on the "College rock" station in the Sims 2. Also of note is the fact that Sarah Isaksson (Klüft's former vocal teacher) is a featured artist on their song Pills.
Since 2011, Ola Klüft has been performing solo under the name A Lanky Swede. Thomas Hedlund has been seen playing drums for Phoenix during their North American Tour.

Something that felt a lot like, but wasn't love?
Just friends, friends then until the end
You know I still pretend, just friends
Take a step and come out of the shade
I can tell you're no longer afraid
I'm helpless without your warming smile
Take a step and come out in the sun
I can tell it's already begun
I'm helpless without your warming smile
Was it love? I think it was but I'm far from sure
I'd never felt that way before, was it love?
Just friends, am I a fool to be asking for
A fool to wish that we could be more than friends?
Take a step and come out of the shade
I can tell you're no longer afraid
I'm helpless without your warming smile
Take a step and come out here in the sun
I can tell it's already begun
I'm helpless without you, helpless without you
Helpless without your warming smile
Your warming smile
The Perishers' "Come Out of the Shade" is a song that speaks to the struggle of apprehension and uncertainty when it comes to love. The lyrics address the singer's uncertainty about their feelings towards someone they consider a friend. The singer is asking themselves whether the emotions they are feeling are love or just something that resembles it. They also question whether they are being foolish for wanting to be more than just friends. Despite this, they continue to hold on to the desire for more while pretending to be okay with just friendship.
Throughout the song, the singer tries to encourage their friend to come out of their self-imposed "shade" or hiding place and to step into the sun, where the truth and honesty can shine on their relationship. The singer acknowledges that they are "helpless without [their friend's] warming smile," indicating that their happiness is tied to the other's presence.
Overall, "Come Out of the Shade" is a song about the complexity of relationships and the difficulty of deciphering one's emotions. It speaks to the internal struggle of wanting something more but navigating the fear and uncertainty that comes along with it.
