1. The most well… Read Full Bio ↴There are at least two groups called The Perishers.
1. The most well-known group is a Swedish indie rock band. The band began in 1997 composed of six members, since 2001 it has consisted of Ola Klüft (vocals, guitar), Martin Gustafson (keyboards, backing vocals), Pehr Åström (bass), and Thomas Hedlund (drums).
Although they have not had a major commercial breakthrough yet, they do have a fanbase that stretches across Europe and North America. They've had several songs appear in episodes of some popular American television programs: Grey's Anatomy, The OC, Veronica Mars, One Tree Hill, 16 and Pregnant, and Greek. Their song Sway also plays on the "College rock" station in the Sims 2. Also of note is the fact that Sarah Isaksson (Klüft's former vocal teacher) is a featured artist on their song Pills.
Since 2011, Ola Klüft has been performing solo under the name A Lanky Swede. Thomas Hedlund has been seen playing drums for Phoenix during their North American Tour.
2. The Perishers were a beat band of the 1960s, based in Liverpool, United Kingdom. Previously known as The Seftons, they released just one single, in 1968: 'How Does It Feel' b/w 'Bye Bye Baby'.

I hope my fists can fight for two
So it never has to show
And you'll never know
I hope my love can blind you
I hope my arms can bind you
So you'll never have to see
One may think, we're all right
But we need pills to sleep at night
We need lies to make it through the day
We're not O.K.
One may think, we're all right
But we need pills to sleep at night
We need lies to make it through the day
We're not O.K.
One may think, we're doing fine
But if I had to lay it on the line
We're losing ground, with every passing day
We're not O.K.
That's one thing, I would never
That's one thing, I would never
That's one thing, I would never
Say to you
That's one thing, I would never
That's one thing, I would never
That's one thing, I would never
Say to you
The Perishers's song Pills is a deeply introspective look at the struggles and challenges of a relationship that is slowly falling apart. The lyrics express a desire to hide the true feelings and struggles from the partner, while putting on a facade of happiness and contentment. The opening lines, "I hope my smile can distract you, I hope my fists can fight for two, so it never has to show, and you'll never know," set the tone for the song, emphasizing the need to maintain a happy exterior, even when everything inside is falling apart.
The next verse talks about the need to blind the partner with love and bind them with arms, so they never have to see what the relationship has grown to be. This is followed by a chorus that highlights the reliance on lies and pills to get through each day, despite the outward appearance of being "alright". The repeated "we're not O.K" emphasizes the growing sense of uncertainty and doubt about the future of the relationship.
The final verse is a confession, an admission that despite the outward facade, things are not fine. The singer lays it on the line, expressing that they are losing ground with each passing day. The song ends with a repetition of the phrase "that's one thing, I would never say to you." This phrase, while not directly explained, suggests that there are things left unsaid, perhaps because they are too painful or difficult to express.
Overall, Pills is a poignant and introspective song, delving into the complexities of relationships and the struggles people face in trying to keep them together. The lyrics are full of imagery and powerful emotions that will resonate with anyone who has been in a troubled relationship.

This hits really hard personally because I do have a very bad relationship with sleeping pills and no one in my life knows and it's a constant thing I try to hide. This hit hard the first time I heard it. The Perishers are amazing.
