Engaging in playful combat with a flashlight on the balcony, perhaps as a youthful escapade.

Grit your teeth and grip the banister
Hold tight in anticipation of something frightening or exhilarating.

'Cause your scared of the thought,
Because you are afraid of what might happen if you let go or fail.

Of what’s waiting under the stairs
What unknown dangers may lurk in the shadows.

There's probably nothing even there
The fear may be unfounded, and there may not actually be any danger present.

Breaking bread with the dead,
Symbolic act of communing with ancestors or past loved ones.

Is it all in my head or am I full from being fed by my imagination running wild
Am I experiencing a mental delusion, or is this spiritual experience real?

On the cusp of dreams where shadows scream
In the space where dream and reality blur, the darkness can be overwhelming.

And everything is distant
Perception of detachment and unease, as if the world is far away.

Everything is quite here,
All seems calm and peaceful on the surface.

But nothing is ever quite as it seems
Appearances can be deceiving, and the truth is often elusive.
