When you work hard and put in effort, it's called skill. When you're born with it, it's called talent. Clearly the piano is an extension of Jon's body, and music flows through his veins. I watch this once a week at least and never get tired of it. I'm attempting to learn it, but have zero interest in the sheet music. I want to play it like he does, and there's no sheet music for that. It will be a long process, but I feel the more I brainwash it into me, the easier it will become. In the meantime, I enjoy watching Jon play it over and over and over. Truly inspiring...

diebydeath To add my two cents to your thoughts, learning to read sheet music (and also learning music theory) is more of a way to help you put your emotions into written form and show you why it sounds good. Learning to read sheet music and learning music theory won’t make your writing cold and mechanical. It will just help guide your music so you understand what it is that you’re doing and if you get stuck on a certain part, using that knowledge can help you get past it whether it be when you’re learning a piece or writing one. Hell, I’m a metal musician, and my theory knowledge and ability to read sheet music has helped me out more times than I can count, and my music didn’t lose the attitude or energy that comes with metal. As long as you’re writing or playing from the heart, nothing will stop that passion from shining through.

The "secret" to being on a professional level, at just about anything, is intense interest at a young age. This way you "practice" many hours every day... although because you love it so much, you never think of it as work, you just love doing it. 10 years later, you're fking incredible and people call it talent. Not everyone can be the best of course, but many hours a day, every day, from a young age and pretty much anyone can be in the top 1% or so.

Shut the fuck up trying to sound emotional or philosophical, once per week is nothing compared to the actual effort you have to put in. I've been playing this song for 3-4 days now, listening to it half a dozen times a day, practicing for 3-4 hours a day. My wrist kinda gets sore a bit after each session, but its worth it, now Im at page 6, advancing 2 pages a day. If you really wanna get to play this song, stop talking nonsense about music in veins, talent or not, its hard work that pays. Plus, if you actually put in any effort instead of writing such a misleading comment, you could've found the sheet music in minutes, it's all over the internet. Stop bullshitting, get to work if you're really that 'brainwashed' by this song. Listening once per week won't get you anywhere. Cheers.

This is one of my favorite Jon Schmidt songs along with "Waterfall" from his days before he joined The Piano Guys. I made a New Years Resolution for 2021 to try and finally learn how to play it. I have been playing piano for over 20 years but havent been able to master this song yet. It's extremely difficult to play and is so fun to listen to.

Because of this video I started to gain interest in playing the piano. Now I am doing a masters in piano and I give a big thanks to you guys because without this video I wouldn't have discovered how beautiful playing the piano is.

@1violalass I studied at home by myself and did the fifth grade exam and entered music school. Eventually i got to masters with a 9 which would be equivalent to an A* in piano but nearly failed the other subjects and decided to drop them for masters. The amount you need to study is a heck of a lot believe me but for people that are passionate about the piano, nothing is too much.

My wife enjoys this song so much, that she walked down the aisle to it at our wedding- with her and her dad struggling to keep from bobbing their heads the entire time while going down the aisle. Right about the point where he mashes the piano keys with his elbow is when she reached the front with her dad. :-)
