Former ballerinas turned songstresses, they released their self-titled debut in 2000 with Epic. The album was met with lukewarm reception, but the girls were undeterred. After moving to New York, they released Light Of The Moon with Universal in 2005, with similar luck. After leaving the label and their manager to make some serious changes, they recorded their third album with producer Roger Greenawalt and after having opened a week's worth of shows for Albert Hammond Jr. [Catherine Pierce's fiancee] in November 2006, the girls were greeted with much more enthusiastic reception and excellent press.
Thirteen Tales of Love and Revenge was released in April 2007.
The Pierces recently gained even more press when they were featured on the December 5th episode of the hit TV show, "Gossip Girl".
However, despite Catherine's high-profile celebrity romance with the Strokes guitarist, Albert Hammond Jr., the increased publicity didn't translate into sales.
According to the You'll Be Mine Songfacts, the siblings were on the verge of calling it a day when a friend of theirs, Coldplay bassist Guy Berryman, offered to produce them. The result was The Pierces fourth album, You & I, their first release after signing to Polydor.

Caught my eye with his black, heart-shaped tattoo
I can see what's professional
He knows just how much to be cool
I never knew he was a dancer
Now he's walking me in circles across the floor
Hold on to me cause I'm going blind
I'm not feeling lonely anymore
Let's go, let's go deep inside
Am I the only one believing that this could be something beautiful?
Don't try, don't try to hide
The darkness you reveal could make you come alive
Come alive, come alive, come alive
I'm just giving you a hard time
Never knew you were an inner beauty
Only thought you were a pretty face
Pick me up and take me out tonight
You could meet me at the highline
We could act like we are tourists in New York
The city lights up like a diamond there
I think you could shine as bright
Let's go, let's go deep inside
Am I the only one believing that this could be something beautiful?
Don't try, don't try to hide
The darkness you reveal could make you come alive
Come alive, come alive, come alive
Let's go, let's go deep inside
Am I the only one believing that this could be something beautiful?
Don't try, don't try to hide
The darkness you reveal could make you come alive
Come alive, come alive, come alive, come alive
The darkness you reveal could make you come alive (come alive, come alive)
The darkness you reveal could make you come alive (come alive, come alive)
The darkness you reveal could make you come alive (come alive, come alive)
The darkness you reveal could make you come alive (come alive, come alive)
The Pierces's song "Come Alive" is about opening yourself up to new experiences and enjoying the moment. The song tells the story of a woman who meets a man with a black, heart-shaped tattoo who is a dancer. Initially, she only sees him as a pretty face, but as they start spending time together, she begins to appreciate his inner beauty as well. They explore New York City together and she realizes that life is not about being lonely, but about finding joy in the moments.
The chorus of the song encourages the listener to let go of their inhibitions and embrace life. The line "The darkness you reveal could make you come alive" suggests that the things we fear or hide about ourselves can actually be what makes us interesting and unique. By being true to ourselves and not hiding our true selves, we can find a sense of freedom and happiness.
Overall, "Come Alive" is an upbeat and catchy song that encourages listeners to live in the moment and enjoy life to the fullest.
