Former ballerinas turned songstresses, they released their self-titled debut in 2000 with Epic. The album was met with lukewarm reception, but the girls were undeterred. After moving to New York, they released Light Of The Moon with Universal in 2005, with similar luck. After leaving the label and their manager to make some serious changes, they recorded their third album with producer Roger Greenawalt and after having opened a week's worth of shows for Albert Hammond Jr. [Catherine Pierce's fiancee] in November 2006, the girls were greeted with much more enthusiastic reception and excellent press.
Thirteen Tales of Love and Revenge was released in April 2007.
The Pierces recently gained even more press when they were featured on the December 5th episode of the hit TV show, "Gossip Girl".
However, despite Catherine's high-profile celebrity romance with the Strokes guitarist, Albert Hammond Jr., the increased publicity didn't translate into sales.
According to the You'll Be Mine Songfacts, the siblings were on the verge of calling it a day when a friend of theirs, Coldplay bassist Guy Berryman, offered to produce them. The result was The Pierces fourth album, You & I, their first release after signing to Polydor.

Leaving in quiet and leaving us to be alone
I waited too long to say
I tried to pretend, I only want you to stay
If just for tonight
Don't let me go, I won't mind it
Maybe it's right, we will never know
The day is through now, doesn't feel right
I can't stand the quiet so I lay awake all through the night
We'll journey on and just let it play
Don't ever let it end, I only want you to stay
If just for tonight
Don't let me go, I won't mind it
Maybe it's right, we will never know
I don't mind it
Wait for a moment
But there's nothing that I can say to you
So go if you wanna
There's nothing left for me to do
If just for tonight
Don't let me go, I won't mind it
Maybe it's right, we will never know
I don't mind it
If just for tonight
Don't let me go, I won't mind it
Maybe it's right, we will never know
I don't mind it
I don't mind it
I don't mind it
I don't mind it
The Pierces’s song “I Don’t Mind” portrays a bleak viewpoint on a relationship, through the lens of someone trying to hold onto a love that is slipping away. The first few lines set the scene; the character is by himself after everyone has left, probably at the end of a big gathering or a party. The loneliness draws him toward the person he loves, which he had tried to put aside for some reason, probably fear. But now he can't pretend anymore, and his heart can't help but yearn for her. He has waited too long to speak to her and express his true feelings, a mistake he deeply regrets. He feels that he doesn't have much time before she leaves, but also knows that it is unlikely for her to stay.
In the chorus, the character is pleading with his love to stay with him, just for tonight. He would rather hold onto the hope that this one night could turn into something more than nothing at all. He acknowledges that it may be right to let go, and that they may never know how things could turn out between them, but he does not mind the uncertainty. The second verse reiterates the character's struggle with loneliness, which Is so powerful that he lies awake all through the night. He knows that eventually, they will have to separate, but he wants to savor the moment, to hold on as long as possible. The song concludes with the character admitting that he could wait for her, but there's nothing that he can say to convince her to stay. He tells her she can go if she wants to, but there's nothing left for him to do, and he has no choice but to accept his fate.
Overall, “I Don’t Mind” is a beautifully poignant song that delves deeply into the despairing emotions of a person who has come to terms with a possibly inevitable break-up. The song's structure is simple yet effective, and the exceptional harmony of the two sisters’ complementary voices has made it all the more endearing.
