I'm Not Gonna Take This
The Pigeon Detectives Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
this time don't you
you're running out of excuses
this is the last chance for you
and you know that you're never going to make it on your own
yeah you know that your never going to make it on your own
and im not gonna take it
cause im so sick and tired of you lying
for me anymore
tell me a story you know isn't true
cause i'll find it amusing
you might be into the games that we play
but i don't like losing
and you know that you're never going to make it on your own
yeah you know that your never going to make it on your own
and im not gonna take it
cause im so sick and tired of you lying
and im not sure if your trying
for me anymore
and you know that you're never going to make it on your own
yeah you know that your never going to make it on your own
and im not gonna take it
cause im so sick and tired of you lying
and im not sure if your trying
for me anymore
The lyrics of The Pigeon Detectives' song "I'm Not Gonna Take This" are about a relationship that has reached its breaking point. The singer addresses their partner, telling them they are tired of their lies and excuses, and that this is their last chance to save the relationship. The singer is not sure if their partner is even trying anymore, and is ready to walk away if they don't change their ways.
The lines "you know that you're never going to make it on your own" suggest that the singer's partner is dependent on them and unable to function independently. This creates a sense of resentment and frustration in the singer, who is tired of carrying the weight of the relationship alone. The singer challenges their partner to tell them a story that they know isn't true, perhaps as a way to test their honesty and sincerity.
Overall, the lyrics convey a sense of weariness and exasperation, with the singer unwilling to tolerate their partner's behavior any longer. The repetition of the lines "I'm not gonna take it" reinforces this refusal to accept the status quo, as the singer asserts their independence and demands better treatment from their partner.
