1. the pillows (ザ・ピロウズ) are an alternative rock band from Hokkaidō, Japan, best known outside Japan for their contributions to the soundtrack of the anime series FLCL (Fooly Cooly).
They consist of 山中さわお (Sawao Yamanaka) -vocals & guitar-, 真鍋吉明 (Yoshiaki Manabe) -guitar-, 佐藤シンイチロウ (Shinichiro Sato) -drums-.
The band officially formed on September 16, 1989 as a four-man group. The fourth man and original bassist, 上田ケンジ (Kenji Ueda), left the band in 1992 to become a music producer and do solo work. Since then, 鹿島達也 (Tatsuya Kashima) and later 鈴木淳 (Jun Suzuki) have taken his place as supporting bassists. Neither Kashima nor Suzuki have been named official members out of respect for Ueda.

The lyrics to The Pillows' song "Come on ghost" depicts a speaker who is struggling with the masks they put on in their daily life. They feel like they've been concealing their true nature for so long that they can't take it anymore. They describe themselves as having a violent smile hiding under the mask they wear, and how they are still on standby to present the façade they've crafted. The song also references an attempt to lift the lid off the carefully constructed scenes they've created and take a chance at recycling themselves.
The chorus of the song repeats the words "Come on ghost, Come on beast, Come on Twin egoist" which suggest the singer is urging themselves to reveal their true selves and escape the masks they've been wearing. The last line of the first verse, "三倍速で罰ゲーム" which means "triple speed punishment", could suggest the desperation they feel towards escaping the masks they wear and how they might be willing to face any punishment to do so.
Overall, this song could be seen as an anthem for those who are feeling trapped behind the masks they've created, and how they need to break free to live their lives as their true selves.
