1. Hip-Hop Duo (UK)
The Planets are Ayman Raze aka Forever Bin Rhymin & Nomadic Poet aka Rapastani.
In this vast ocean of MCs and artists you may ask the obvious question: โWhat separates The Planets from the competition?โ
Firstly, well over a decade ago Nomadic Poet and Ayman Raze birthed a style which was to become a blueprint for many. Both being born orthodox Muslims, The Planets were able to successfully fuse their unique rhyming abilities with their spirituality, in a way that had seldom been seen before.
By focusing on making good music and edutaining (educational entertainment), they were able to break through religious and racial barriers, gaining wide mainstream acceptance in the process. Donโt get it confused as the group say themselves, โWe create art, we donโt make religious rap. We merely incorporate our experiences and beliefs and put it in rhyme formโ.
Whereas most religious rappers often come off as preachy or focus on the message without paying attention to the music, The Planets create masterpieces that can be appreciated by all. The dynamic duo are products of their environment, both growing up in inner city London and witnessing the usual drama of what goes on there first hand. This coupled with their unique background, Nomadic of Pakistani descent and Ayman of Sudanese descent makes for a unusual but very interesting and potent mixture.
The mission has not changed but multiplied many times over, as they say in their own words: โWe are a lot more experienced and are as hungry as ever to deliver our message to the massesโ. Expect to hear thought provoking lyrical content, and off the wall wordplay done in a unimitable style that is unique to The Planets.
The pair have appeared on more than 20 officially released projects as their journey so far has seen them fuse with various musical legends as can be witnessed on their previous works such as 2003โs Epic Ep. Here, they joined forces with international reggae superstar Junior One Blood Reid, Prince Po (Organized Konfusion) and early Common collaborater Dug Infinite. In the past they have also worked with industry legends such as Evidence (Dialated Peoples) , DJ Spinna, Atmosphere, Planet Asia, Zion I and One Be Lo to name but a few.
Having gained the respect of Hip Hop heads worldwide, they have had their music spun on the legendary Sway and Tech Wake Up Show, the Big Ted and Shortee Blitz Kiss 100 show, DJ MKs Kiss 100 show, Tim Westwood Radio 1, 1Xtra as well as others.

I got a feeling I'll be alright
Yeah I've seen a lot
She met her boyfriend in a bar-fight
Well I don't even wanna watch
And then they twisted their words into knots and made a full-stop
I saw fire
A volcano
I felt four winds
A tornado
I got a feeling she'll be alright
Yeah I've heard her talk
There's more to life than being on time
Well I don't even own a watch
Everybody lost the plot
And then they twisted their words into knots and made a full-stop
Following the smoke
I'm finding everything a bit too much
Blinded by the pressure building
Gotta get myself out of this rut
I got that full-stop feeling
Well I don't even wanna watch
Everybody lost the plot
And then they twisted their words into knots and made a full-stop
Following the smoke
I'm finding everything a bit too much
Blinded by the pressure building
Gotta get myself out of this rut
I got that full-stop feeling
I got a feeling I'll be alright
Yeah I've seen a lot

The song "Stop" by The Planets seems to be about feeling overwhelmed and feeling the need to take a break from the chaos of life. The lyrics suggest that the singer has seen many different cities, including New York, Toronto, Miami, and Chicago. However, despite experiencing a lot, the singer acknowledges that things are not okay, and everyone seems to have lost the plot. The phrase "full-stop" is repeated throughout the song, suggesting a need to pause and take a breath.
The singer also mentions seeing natural disasters such as fire and tornadoes, possibly suggesting that the chaos is not just limited to human actions but also the environment. The line "following the smoke" implies that the chaos is overwhelming and difficult to escape. The singer feels the pressure building up and recognizes that they need to get out of the rut they are in. The song ends with the repeated phrase "I got that full-stop feeling," suggesting that the need to pause and take a break is crucial for the singer's well-being.
